National Merit Recognition
The National Merit Scholarship Program has named three NDCL seniors as commended students, ranking them among the top 3 percent of all students who took last fall’s Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT).
Vincent Mickey, Courtney Thomas and Antonio Vitale are among the top 50,000 scorers out of more than 1.5 million juniors who took the competitive exam that brings top students to the attention of colleges and universities nationwide.
“We are very proud of Vince, Courtney, and Antonio,” commented Principal Joseph A. Waler. “Their rank among the very best students in the entire nation is a testimony to their hard work and to the quality of NDCL’s academic program.”
Freshman Qualifies for States
Freshman Elena Fleming has qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Tennis Tournament next weekend.
Elena earned her state-tournament berth by defeating opponents from Marlington High School (6-0, 6-1) and Archbishop Hoban High School (6-4, 6-4) during the district competition on Oct. 15. She will compete in the state tournament on Oct. 22-23 at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati.
The NDCL community will send Elena off to the tournament with an all-school clap-out next week. The community can follow Elena’s performance at the tournament on the OHSAA website.
