NDCL Donates Farm Animals

School mascot Tuffy gave Old MacDonald of nursery-rhyme fame a run for his money last week as the Lions sponsored and donated several farm animals for communities in need through Catholic Relief Services’ food and farming program.

Nearly $1,500 collected during the school’s annual Cultural Awareness Week enabled NDCL to donate three cows, seven flocks of chickens and three lambs or baby goats. NDCL’s donations support CRS’s efforts to help people feed their families, work toward self-sufficiency and steward the Earth’s resources for future generations.

NDCL’s World Languages Department, chaired by Mrs. Denise Troha, sponsors NDCL’s annual Cultural Awareness Week.

State Swimming Qualifiers

After strong performances in the regional meet at Cleveland State the weekend of Feb. 18, four Lion swimmers qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Division II Swimming and Diving Tournament at C. J. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

Seniors Andrew Ingram and David Kogovsek, junior Jonathan Ratka and freshman Sean Butler will compete in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Jonathan will also compete individually in the 100-yard backstroke.

The entire school community sent the boys off to Canton with an all-school clap-out at the end of the day on Feb. 23.
