Congrats, 2019 Graduating Classes

End of the year celebrations began with the closing school mass presided by Father Peter Soohyun Bang. The annual mass not only celebrated the end of the year, but also signified the end of elementary school for the eighth-graders and the passing of the leadership to the new student leaders in seventh grade. During the mass, siblings of eighth-grade students presented heartfelt, farewell messages to their siblings. The day ended with the traditional eighth-grade clap out.

On May 28, NDES held their eighth-grade graduation ceremony and reception. A special thank you to Mrs. Michelle Mulchin and her team of volunteers for planning the reception, Mrs. Kim Dixon and her team of volunteers for creating the beautiful graduation photo boards and Mrs. Melissa Lazuka for capturing each of the graduates with a special keepsake photo.

The prekindergarten students celebrated their graduation on May 28 as they prepare to move on to kindergarten. On May 29, kindergarten held its graduation in the auditorium, followed by a picnic reception. The school is so proud of its youngest graduates as they move on to the next level.

The faculty and staff offer their sincerest congratulations to the graduates, big and small. For both eighth-graders and kindergarten, graduation symbolizes transformation and represents the bright beginnings of a future filled with endless possibilities.

Newton’s Carnival

Fifth-graders used every minute of the school year, building and testing carnival games that exhibited foundational concepts in energy and force. Students shared their creations with second- and third-graders at Newton’s Carnival. The carnival visitors had a great time playing the games and winning prizes!

Girls on the Run A Great Success

NDES started its first annual Girls on the Run team this year. Twenty 20 girls and six coaches participated in the national program, which focuses on building leadership skills for girls in grades 3-5.

They had 20 lessons on a variety of leadership topics. As part of the wellness topics, the girls were challenged physically to set a personal goal and complete a 5K at the end of the program. Many of them competed in three races over the last few months.

Congratulations to all the girls for challenging themselves, building new skills, making new friends and giving the program 100 percent.
