The NDES eighth-grade team won first place at Lake Erie College.

Power of the Pen

The NDES eighth-grade team won first place at Lake Erie College. Eighth-grade team members include Sydney Wiegand, Michael Temesi, Helen Holley, Dylan White, Mary Lucy Currier and Andrea Ivanko.

Individual eighth-grade awards went to: Sydney Wiegand, 11th place; Michael Temesi, 10th place; and Helen Holley, eighth place.

The school looks forward to hearing the results for which team members will advance to regionals for both seventh- and eighth-grades. An extra special thank you to Mrs. Stefanek and Mrs. Stefancin for all their hard work with the entire NDES Power of the Pen team.

Distinguished Scholar Winners

Congratulations to eighth-graders Mary Lucy Currier, Joshua Galante, Jack Gaugler, Benjamin Herczog, Emma Lazarescu, Griffin Moskal, Mason Ogint, Catherine Orazem, Nicholas Ravakhah, Cerek Szczyglowski, Alan Vatandoust, Lara Vatandoust, Dylan White, Sydney Wiegand and Luke Zukowski for receiving the NDCL Distinguished Scholar Award.

Kindergarten Preview Day

Kindergarten Preview Day is Feb. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be an opportunity to meet the teachers. Children will enjoy playing and learning time, story time and sharing a snack.

Chicken Soup with Rice

Kindergarten students found some winter fun inspiration from Maurice Sendak’s book “Chicken Soup with Rice.” They followed a recipe to make crock-pot soup and learned more about the months of the year, counting by 2’s, verbs and rhyming words.
