Honors Band Shines

Five NDES students participated in the Ohio Music Educator’s Association (OMEA) District 7 Junior High honor band. Myles Temesi, Owen Tomsic, Dylan White, Kate Williams and Peter Bates represented NDES at a large group rehearsal with 110 students from over 30 schools. The honor band was held at Mentor Fine Arts Center and the guest clinician was Dr. Wendy K. Matthews, director of bands at Kent State University.

The students worked very hard during the seven hour rehearsal, staying focused and perfecting additional music to what they are learning at school. They also had two master classes during the day with professionals on each of their instruments. They even gave up a snow day to be able to participate.

CYO Team Wraps Up the Season

The eighth-grade boys recently wrapped up their CYO basketball season with fun and service. After a terrific father-son basketball game, the boys teamed up with the parents to pack 100 brown bag lunches for a homeless shelter in Painesville. The generous parents donated all the food items that went into the lunches and the boys spent about an hour packing all the lunches and getting everything ready for delivery to the shelter. Congratulations to the team and coaches for being terrific team players both on and off the court.
