Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week gave Notre Dame Elementary School the opportunity to recognize the importance, value and contributions of a Catholic education to the church and to the world. The week was filled with special events and activities to celebrate and engage the students, families and community.

NDES kicked off the week with a live-streamed liturgy celebrated by the first- and eighth-grades. Students collected over 2,500 books for the Women United of United Way Geauga County who host nine Little Free Libraries located all over Geauga County.

Teachers also surprised their students by dressing just like them in NDES school uniforms. NDES also honored its “Parents of the Hour” with Zoom calls from their child’s classroom.

The school recognized the Sisters of Notre Dame by producing a video for them reminding them how much their presence is missed in school. The video was shared with Sisters from all over the region. They really enjoyed the video and so many of the Sisters sent thank-you emails.

Teachers were treated to coffee and donuts in their classrooms in the morning and a special luncheon. NDES students enjoyed a lunch catered by Chick-Fil-A, Hawaiian-themed dress down day, playing Bingo, eating popcorn and watching a movie.

Catholic Schools Week concluded with students, faculty and staff wearing tie-dye shirts. A special thank you goes to the Notre Parent Association for providing the faculty and student lunches and many thanks to the wonderful parent volunteers for making Catholic Schools Week so special.
