Mr. Brandon Dynes, a lawyer from Thrasher, Dinsmore & Dolan and father of Brookelyn Dynes, delivered a presentation to the seventh-graders as a culmination of their class assignment of reading “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
Mr. Dynes opened with a few law jokes and then discussed The Scottsboro Trials of 1931-1937, which inspired Harper Lee to write her novel. Filled with curiosity, students asked Dynes questions about courtroom proceedings, types of law degrees, judges and juries, charges for crimes, requirements to become a lawyer and many more. A unanimous decision of the seventh-grade jury, Mr. Dynes was a big hit.
