Jim and the Beanstalk
In grade three, students are creating and precisely measuring beanstalks to the nearest quarter and half inch after reading the story “Jim and the Beanstalk” by Raymond Briggs. As they complete the three-day project that involves art, literature, measurement, fractions and data analysis, they have to apply several of the skills they learned over the past few weeks.
Fifth Grade Enrichment
During English language arts class and the fifth-graders’ study of the Reformation and the printing press, Sr. Barbara Soplata shared a handmade book created by Sr. Joanne Marie Zeitz from the NDES Chapel. Students got an up close and personal idea of how time consuming it was to create books and what pieces of art books were prior to the invention of the printing press.
