Grandparents Day
Students in grades K-2 celebrated Grandparents Day with Mass, Bingo, refreshments, and special performances by band students in addition to a sharing of songs by each grade level. All grandparents received little hearts of love.
Blue Ribbon School
Blue Ribbon Schools provide opportunities for students to be involved in service to their school community and beyond. They also look for ways to build community right where they are. At Notre Dame, students learn that they are called to share the gifts they have been given and lead the way in supporting each other, the larger community and children around the world.
Halloween Doors
Student Council formed committees with the student body of NDES in grades 6-8 to decorate homeroom doors for Halloween. More than 30 students stayed after school working together to create decorated doors.
The initiative was to not only celebrate Halloween, but also to create school spirit and fellowship. The students were excited, creative and enthusiastic. They had tape flying and paper scraps everywhere as they created unique doors to bring smiles to everyone’s faces.
7th-Graders Support Ozanman Center
Seventh-grade students recently collected personal care items to donate to the Ozanman Center. The organization depends on donations to provide low-income families with necessary items. Students sorted the items gathered based on product type such as shampoo/conditioner, soap, dental products and detergents. Sixteen boxes of personal care products were collected to donate.
Student Council Change Challenge
The NDES Student Council just ended a “change challenge” competition between boys and girls to see who could collect the most money. The money collected will be donated to fund care packages for children receiving cancer treatment at the Cleveland Clinic. One very generous NDES family has offered to match the amount raised by the students, making an even bigger impact.
Learning With Community Helpers
The preschool was excited to welcome the Munson Fire Department for a special visit on Monday. Students learned about fire safety, how firefighters work to protect the community, ambulances and fire gear. They got a special tour of the fire trucks and an ambulance.
