Sixth-Grade Camp Fun

NDMS sixth-grade students spent three fun-filled days at Hiram House. Special thanks to Mrs. Sabol, Mrs. Stefancin and Mrs. Ball for planning such a memorable experience for the students.

Travel the World

Miss Thompson’s Travel the World elective was greeted by Mr. John Susong who spoke with the students about all the natural wonders that North America has to offer. Susong has visited 53 of the 63 national parks found within the United States, most recently visiting Denali National Park in Alaska. He noted opportunities for trails, as he is an avid bike rider throughout the parks, picturesque views and the wildlife that surrounds the parks.

Mr. Susong told the students, “Have your parents take you out to see the country. My only regret is that I did not start traveling to these beautiful places sooner.”

Time for Monarch Caterpillars

Students in enrichment class with Sr. Barbara have enjoyed watching monarch butterfly caterpillars grow up. They saw them as monarch eggs the first week of school and were amazed at how quickly they had grown. Soon they will go into their chrysalis stage and hatch about 10 days later. Then, it will be off to Mexico for their fall migration.
