Building Pyramids in STEM
The sixth-grade STEM classes used toothpicks and marshmallows to build a rectangular or square pyramid. In addition, students are testing small slices of apples in various substances to see which preserves the apple slice the best. Once they decide on the best mixture, they will be making mummified apple heads. The two challenges go along nicely with their study of Ancient Egypt.
Stockings for Soldiers
As Notre Dame Lions, the core value of community was shown the past few weeks in the school’s Stockings for Soldiers service project. Working alongside DeJohn Funeral Homes, students in grades K-5 donated over 2,200 items.
Once collected, Student Council members assembled the stockings, which will be sent to U.S. troops and arrive just in time for Christmas. Students had a blast choosing special items for their stockings.
Thank you to all who helped make the event so successful, and thank you to our service members; it was a pleasure to serve those who serve the country every day.
