Student Athletes of the Month
Hillcrest Insurance Student Athletes of the Month for December are seniors M’Jahlee Thomsen and Josh Moriarity have been named
A member of the girls basketball team, MJ is on the honor roll and was Kiwanis Student of the Month. She is a three-year letter winner and was offensive player of the year in 2109. She is a captain on the girls basketball team and plans to play in college and major in social work.
Josh is a on the wrestling team and helped lead his team to a third place finish in the Revere Duals, going 5-0 with four pins. He is a multiple time letter winner in both football and wrestling. Josh is a merit role student and plans to attend Lakeland Community College in the fall.
Irwin Hits 1,000 Points
West Geauga High School junior Josh Irwin passed the 1,000 career points mark on Jan. 17 in front of a packed home crowd. West Geauga went on to win the game 58-55.
Josh is the first student athlete to accomplish this feat as a junior in West Geauga history. Look for more great things from this fine young man.
Board Members Sworn In
West Geauga Local Schools Treasurer Karen Penler had the privilege of issuing the oath of office to members of the West Geauga Board of Education in January. Ben Kotowski and Kathy Leavenworth were sworn in as re-elected board members. Chet Ramey was sworn in as vice president and Dr. Bill Beers was sworn in as the president.
