Students in Ms. Wu’s classes are learning about the Chinese New Year.

Chinese New Year

Students in Ms. Wu’s classes are learning about the Chinese New Year. Throughout the unit of study, the students will participate in a parade with a Chinese dragon dance and fan dance. The dances are part of the tradition and culture that the students are learning. The final activity is the Chinese New Year celebration, in which students at the middle and high schools will participate.

Happy Retirement, Mr. Klima

Westwood Elementary School head custodian Joe Klima decided to retire in January. A favorite of the students and staff, Mr. Klima was honored at an all-school assembly. Student and parent groups gave presentations on Jan. 31 before a teary audience. Mr. Klima will be missed but will always be welcome at Westwood Elementary School.

Lady Wolverines Win CVC

Congratulations to the West Geauga Lady Wolverine basketball team for winning the Chagrin Division of the Chagrin Valley Conference. The girls will begin the playoffs on Feb. 20 at West Geauga High School.

After the victory over Lakeside, each of the girls took a turn cutting down a piece of the net. The team then draped the net around coach Bob Beutel’s neck.
