DNA Profiling Poodles
West Geauga honors biology students in Ms. Aly Ledman’s classes participated in a unique lab to begin learning about DNA profiling. Two puppies from Theory Poodles visited the classes on Dec. 8 for DNA collection by cheek swabs of the puppies’ mouths. Later, a complete DNA profile of the pups, the dam (mother) and possible sires (fathers) will be given to the students who will then analyze the data and determine who is the father.
Westwood Holiday Shop
The Westwood Elementary School PTO is sponsoring a holiday shop for all the students. Each classroom has a scheduled time to visit the shop and purchase gifts for family and friends. The students come to the shop in small groups and volunteers from the PTO act as personal shoppers for the students. The gifts are then wrapped by the volunteers, and nametags are attached.
Thank you to the PTO for making this tradition a reality this year.
