Marching Band Performs at Rock Hall
The West Geauga Marching Band (WGMB) recently appeared on the Fox8 Morning Show “Kickin’ it with Kenny.” The band was invited to perform on the show over the summer and prepared eight songs to play over the course of the two hour show.
The Friday morning segment was hosted by Fox 8’s Todd Meany and included interviews and performances. Songs featured included The West Geauga Fight Song, “Blackbird,” “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” “Americano,” “On the Floor,” “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and more.
Along with the band performance, the directors and a few students were able to speak on TV about the marching band and their upcoming trip to London, England, to perform in the London New Year’s Day Parade.
WG Newbury Brick Distribution
Bricks from the 1928 portion of the former Newbury School were distributed recently by administrators and staff of the West Geauga Local School District. Each brick contained an image of the old building along with its dates of occupancy and the Newbury Black Knights logo.
The district prepared 1,100 bricks to attain a surplus in excess of the 1,000 originally planned for distribution. Anyone who did not order a brick but would like to receive one may email Mrs. Martin at Diane.Martin@westg.org to reserve one. Extra bricks will be distributed on a first-come basis.
