5th-Grade Field Trip
The fifth-grade class took a field trip on the Goodtime III, with some Cleveland sightseeing included before departure. The Goodtime ship cruises Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga River. Along the narrated tour, students learn local history, social studies and economics. The trip was a special way for the class to close out the end of their elementary school years. Thank you to the staff and volunteers, along with a generous anonymous donation making this trip possible.
8th-Grade Field Trip
The eighth-grade class recently enjoyed a four-day trip to Washington, D.C., and Williamsburg. The overnight field trip included visiting Arlington Cemetery for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, changing of the guard ceremony and Kennedy gravesites; Lincoln, Korean, Vietnam, Jefferson and World War II memorials; Lafayette Park to view the White House; American Revolution Museum; Adventure Cove Mini Golf; Hauntings of Williamsburg tour; Colonial Williamsburg; Hampton Roads Cruise with a DJ dance and pizza party; and lastly a stop in Shanksville, Pa., to visit the Flight 93 National Memorial. Students returned with many fond memories together as a result of the trip.
Westwood Field Day
The weather was perfect for Westwood Elementary School students to enjoy Field Day. From base running, ball kicking, basket shooting, backwards dribbling to inflatable obstacle courses, the day was filled with energy, excitement and laughter. A picnic lunch was provided to all students by the Westwood PTO, leading to the final event of the day – Tug-o-war between the second-grade classes and teachers. Thank you to Mrs. Nicolosi for organizing Field Day, to all of the volunteers who made it successfu, and to the PTO for their support.
Lindsey Field Day
Field Day at Lindsey Elementary School was action packed. Students had a wide-variety of activities including a cross-country race, yard Yahtzee, jumping rope, corn hole, inflatables, ball throwing and kicking, tire flipping, a 50-yard dash and tug-o-war. The PTO provided all students with lunch. A special thank you to Mr. Perusek for organizing such a wonderful day and to all of the volunteers.
