National Merit Scholars

Four West Geauga High School students have been recognized by the 2024 National Merit Scholarship program. The national competition has over 1 million U.S. high school students entered by taking the Preliminary SAT (PSAT)/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT). Of the entrants, only 34,000 move on to be selected as commended students and 16,000 advance to semifinalists based on their high scores.

Congratulations to Bridget Bellett and Andrew Elias on being named commended students and Gordon Mahoney andSamuel Taurasi on being named semifinalists.

Halloween Hangout

The West Geauga National Honor Society is hosting a Halloween Hangout at the high school on Oct. 26 from 5-7 pm. The event for kids includes trick-or-treating through the halls of the high school, along with games and activities in the cafeteria.

Homecoming Celebrations

Homecoming is a special week for high school students, alumni and community. West Geauga celebrated with a themed spirit week complete with a class and teacher dodgeball competition all leading up to the return of the homecoming parade, football game and dance.

The West Geauga Marching Band put on a homecoming performance to remember at the football game. They performed their pop show music at halftime, complete with fireworks. The eighth-grade band members also joined for a halftime song and did an amazing job in their first ever marching performance.

Special thanks to Mr. Mobley and his company for donating the fireworks and coordinating the timing with the music. The theme chosen by students, “There’s no place like HOMEcoming,” rang true for all of the familiar Wolverine alumni who returned to campus and to everyone who joined to celebrate.
