Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 8-14, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 373 calls during this seven-day period.
AGENCY ASSIST
June 14
2:53 a.m., South Cucumber Street, Jefferson. Request for K-9. ACSO did activate Lake County bomb squad. K-9 requested for Jefferson PD. Unknown suspect called ACSO from a cell phone and stated, “There is a bomb in the building let’s see how good you f*&%#$@ are” then hung up. Jefferson PD pinged the phone and it showed was at or near the business. Jefferson PD pulled everyone out of the business and contacted bomb squad. Deputy and K-9 searched building and did not locate any suspicious packages inside. Once building was cleared Jefferson PD was advised of findings and employees were allowed to return to work.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
June 11
7:42 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Fans are acting out toward the ump. Dispute over bad call. Ump threw parent out. Stood by until game was over. No threats were made.
June 13
8:10 p.m., Daniel Lane, Hambden. Caller’s neighbor was calling caller and his wife racial slurs. Parties are separated. Female admitted to yelling a slur at her neighbor from across the street. She was spoke to about her disorderly behavior and stated she would not do it again. Female is back at the residence banging on the windows and name-calling. Female arrested.
FRAUD
June 8
7:15 p.m., Honeysuckle Lane, Auburn. Caller states she has been scammed by what she thought was Apple. She paid them with Apple iTunes card in the total of $4,600 and a major credit card of $300. Report taken.
DISORDERLY
June 14
11:59 a.m., Tavern Road, Burton. Highway patrol brought vehicle to location. Three males now there arguing with caller. Parties are separated. Subjects upset over an $800 tow bill from business. There were referred to their insurance company and civil court. Subjects were going to contact state patrol, which requested the tow. Subjects were also told to stay off of property without permission from the owner.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
June 11
11:48 a.m., Orange Lane, Auburn. Homeowner needs to report his house being egged and TP’d. Complainant said sometime during the night an unknown suspect(s) came onto his property and egged his house, put toilet paper in the trees and on the roof of his house, painted penises on a couple of his trees and his sidewalk, and the lids to his septic system. Thinks is was kids from the neighborhood, but has not way to prove it. Deputy advised homeowner to put cameras up on his property to catch any future incidents. Deputy also advised he would put in an extra patrol request for neighborhood. Advice given.
SUSPICIOUS
June 8
2:23 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Red van with windows and a shotgun laying on the back seat. No one around it. UTL/GOA.
8:23 p.m., Trask Road, Thompson. Male keeps calling and trying to have an intimate conversation. Caller knows her full name. She called her carrier and they suggested she call the police. She had a stalker in the past and is concerned. Deputy advised. Complainant advised she has received four calls. She further states person on the line keeps asking her why she called him. Advised complainant to block the number and if more unknown numbers call her to let them go to voicemail.
June 10
4:59 p.m., Greentree Lane, Troy. Caller states her male neighbor has been urinating in her lawn as well as he neighbors. Spoke with complainant. Said her neighbor has been observed several times standing outside urinating in his back yard. She knows he has a mental disability, but requested incident be documented. Deputy spoke with male who said he has not urinated outside in a long time. Deputy explained all consequences of his actions if he would continue to urinate outside. Male stated he understood and will never urinate outside again.
June 11
7:05 a.m., Tavern Road, Burton. Couple hundred feet south of Jug right hand side, silver tarp. Female thinks there is a human foot. Located male laying on the west side of Tavern Road covered up with silver blanket. Male was woke up and identified as a person with warrant out of Westlake. Warrant confirmed and male transported to routes 44 and 90 to meet with Westlake PD.
June 13
10:21 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. White male wearing a black trench coat, looking into the store windows. Owners called in reporting there is a suspicious male at the business. They saw him on cameras wearing a black trench coat and bare feet, and he is looking in the windows on the side of the building. One male arrested.
THEFT
June 9
2:42 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. A tablet belonging to the library was stolen by a woman who is no longer living at WomenSafe. Caller also resides there and states there is video footage. Report taken.
WEAPON OFFENSE
June 8
12:05 p.m., Frazier Drive, Munson. Someone shot an arrow into my yard. Complainant did not know what direction the arrow came. UTL arrow owner; no signs shooting will continue.
