The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov. 13-19, 2020.

911 PROBLEM

Nov. 19
7 a.m., Burlington Glen Drive, Munson. Screaming on pickup, male answered on callback and said there was no issue. Male had disagreement with his wife. Some pushing happened. Deputy spoke with wife who said male has some addiction problems, with pornography. Male getting mad because someone is going to respond. Spoke with male and wife who said they were arguing this morning about his addiction to porn and masturbation. He became upset and started yelling so she called 911 to scare him. Deputies attempted to help them through their issues and offer advice on how to resolve their problems. No violence or threats were made, just a verbal argument.

AGENCY ASSIST

Nov. 13

10:42 a.m., Kile Road, Hambden. Caller is with the secret service, wants to interview subject, has called previously and was told a deputy could accompany him. Deputy advised. Assist U.S. Secret Service.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Nov. 13

3:07 p.m., Butternut Road, Burton. Two cows on the northside of property not fenced in. Caller does not own cows. Caller is afraid they will go into the road. Cows ran north with two Amish boys trying to get them back in the fence according to caller.

ASSAULT

Nov. 15

10:59 a.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Group home for special needs, need to report an employee on third shift who has been hurting one of the residents there. See report.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Nov. 15

9:05 p.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. Wife kicked him and also knocked his tooth loose. Daughter was original caller. Guns in home, locked in safe. Both parties intoxicated. Wife is upset because husband has a girlfriend and he wants a divorce. Caller advised husband did not touch wife; he said he will run her mouth at deputies but not be combative. Caller is outside, wife inside. One female arrested, report taken.

FRAUD

Nov. 17

2:01 p.m., Stillwell Road, Claridon. Subject in lobby to speak with deputy about fraud/blackmail situation. Report taken.

Nov. 19

11:19 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Someone used caller’s Social Security Number to get a loan. He believes his ex-business partner is trying to get a loan in his name.

HARASSMENT

Nov. 17

9:20 a.m., South Street, Chardon. Deputy responded to listed address. Spoke with complainant who said she is receiving messages from her roofing company that are inappropriate. Complainant said she had some roofing work done and male subject asked if he could fish on complainant’s property. Consent given, but male did not show up to fish. Complainant then received a photo from male of a male in torso wearing only underwear. A short time later, a naked photo of a fully erect penis was sent by male. Along with the photos were texts asking if complainant would engage in sexual activity. Complainant told male to stop. One last sexually-natured text was sent by male and nothing received since. Complainant said she only wants incident documented should any additional texts arrive. Responding deputy showed complainant how to block a number. An extensive Spillman search was completed with no matching subjects with that cell number. Complainant sent text to responding officer so they could be filed. Complainant did not want responding officer to call male unless more messages are received.

SUSPICIOUS

Nov. 14

10:50 a.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Deputy flagged down by passing motorist who said she currently was working with a deputy on a harassment case and she had received another letter in the mail from the suspect. She said she tried calling the sheriff’s office but could not get through to deputy. Deputy told to contact woman when she returned to work so she could speak with him about the new letter. Woman also asked what she needed to do to get extra patrol on her home.

Nov. 16

4:29 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Caller difficult to understand, sounds intoxicated. Stating a friend of his may have been kidnapped and is “under control of a sex trafficker.” He said he called her 30 minutes ago and she is crying. Then he received a text from the same phone number asking for $5,000 to see her. He only knows her over the internet and has never met her in person. Inquired if male is being catfished/scammed and he is “positive this is not a scam” because she was supposed to come meet him last week. He believes she was kidnapped from Miami airport and that’s why she never arrived in Ohio. Caller stated he has had a three-year online relationship with 31-year-old female and she is from Florida. Caller said over the three years he has sent “Melissa” more than $18,000 through bitcoin. Caller advised female was supposed to come see him several weeks ago, but never showed up. Caller opened his tablet, which was full of photos, including nude ones of this female. Caller advised he just started receiving messages from some German guy stating he has kidnapped female and is using her as a sex slave. The subject then sent caller a photo of female having sexual relations with two other women and three men. German subject is demanding $5,000 to release female. Dispatch advised caller about scams involving this type of plot. Caller told he should cut off all contact with the subjects and refuse to send any money, no matter how real it appears. Further advice was given to caller about scams and how to avoid them.

THEFT

Nov. 16

6:39 a.m., Great Lakes Parkway, Troy. Two enclosed trailers were stolen out of Great Lakes Cheese last night. GPS is showing the first trailer on E. 186th St. in Cleveland. GPS on the second trailer is showing Laird Street, Cleveland. Caller said the map is showing both trailers originally stopped at E. 186th St. address before the second left and went to Laird Street. Report taken.

THREATENING

Nov. 19

7:19 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller says he has a no contact order with female and her boyfriend. Boyfriend sent him a text with a photo flipping caller off and saying “you f#@$ed up buddy be ready for the sheriff knocking at your door, that is if I don’t take care of you myself.” Report taken.

TRESPASSING

Nov. 13

10:28 a.m., Woodin Road, Hambden. Spoke with complainant who said he just got home from shopping when an unknown male walked into his house. Male said he was supposed to be meeting friends at this house. Complainant did not know the male. Unknown male told deputy he was supposed to meet people at the sugar shack, but they were not there. Male advised that is because he is at wrong home. Complainant did not want to pursue criminal charges and just wanted male off his property and told not to return. Male given a trespass warning and driven home by deputy.

WELFARE CHECK

Nov. 16

4:43 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Caller is 17-year-old male and feels unsafe in his home. Lives with his parents. He said it’s filthy and he is not allowed to use their washer. He said he does not have COVID. His parents will not let him out of the bedroom. He wants to file charges against his parents. Deputy spoke with caller and his father. Caller said parents were keeping him in his bedroom for 14 days, for COVID 19 protocol. Caller was in a vehicle with a friend who recently tested positive for COVID 19, and has until Nov. 21 to be in the clear. Parents agreed to allow caller to go outside, have a TV and an Xbox for the remainder of quarantine. Caller agreed to terms.
