The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 14-20, 2022.

BURGLARY

Jan. 19

3:26 p.m., Hayes Road, Middlefield. Someone broke into my house between 11 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. today. Several items missing: TVs, went through desk and tried to steal car. Forced entry. They are not here now. Report taken.

CHEST PAIN

Jan. 20

12:50 a.m., Cedar Road, Munson. 62-year-old male not feeling well. Chest hurting after shoveling snow. No heart history. Medics en route from NBFD squad.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Jan. 18

12:13 p.m., Kinsman Road, Middlefield. Male in lobby requesting to speak to deputy about people posting about him on social media. He reported his ex-girlfriend’s dad was saying mean things about him on Facebook. He wanted to know what type of action he could take since there is a protection order against him filed by his ex-girlfriend. Deputy reviewed the comment. No threats were made. Advice given.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Jan. 14

12:13 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Complainant wants it on record that person confronted her about an online posting that complainant said she did not post. No threats were made. However, complainant wants incident on file in case issues arise.

CO POISONING

Jan. 18

7:16 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. CO in the house. Flame on the furnace is yellow. One person with illness. Just plugged in the CO alarm and it is red. FYI will respond if needed. Dominion advised.

DISABLED VEHICLE

Jan. 17

3:04 a.m., Hosmer Road, Parkman. Vehicle is stuck in the snow. Tried to contact tow, but was told to have police come first. They were informed a deputy would be sent. Deputy arrived and could not get down Hosmer due to deep snow. Caller had assistance from a neighbor with a skid steer.

FRAUD          

Jan. 20

11:37 a.m., Venus Road, Hambden. Was scammed out of $4,800. Report taken.

HARASSMENT

Jan. 19

2:32 p.m., Dianne Drive, Newbury. Caller’s neighbor is harassing her. She wants to report her neighbor is calling in false reports on her teenage son at West Geauga. No other harassments have occurred. Caller would like incident documented. Advice given.

THEFT

Jan. 15

2:57 p.m., Bartholomew Road, Auburn. Black 2004 flatbed 16-foot trailer was stolen overnight. It’s a Hawkline with mess ramps. Stolen from the farm. Someone called and said the stolen trailer is at her neighbor’s house in Shalersville. That person was arrested today by PCSO for theft of another trailer according to caller. See report.

TRAFFIC CRASH

Jan. 18

9:28 a.m., Madison Road, Parkman. Plow truck sprayed snow into my windshield and nearly caused me to crash. White Dodge truck flatbed with a plow. Crossed into Portage County.

TRAFFIC OFFENSE

Jan. 20

7:59 a.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. School bus was stopped on Squilla Road near Ravenwood. Caller just watched a car drive through the school bus light at 50+ mph, nearly striking a child. White vehicle, unknown make/model, then pulled into what used to be the County Home and a male driver exited vehicle. Caller, who followed the vehicle, confronted the driver and yelled at him in parking lot. Driver of car was a younger male, heavy set, with glasses. He said he was not paying attention. Caller would like deputies to make contact with subject and bus driver, and issue a citation. A child was nearly killed. Caller drove by facility again and observed a deputy speaking with a female who is driver’s mother and works at the facility. Report taken.

TRESPASSING

Jan. 18

6:41 p.m., Pierce Street. Male is in 400 Hall and is not supposed to be there. Caller said male was escorted out over weekend. Complaint of too many people not wearing proper PPE garments in patient’s room. Officer advised Amish family of 8 of the requirements and they complied without incident. Subject male was not there and had not been trespassed from location.

VIOLATION COURT ORDER

Jan. 14

3:44 p.m., Dianne Drive, Newbury. Caller has a no-contact order with the neighbor kids. They continue to walk through her yard and yell vulgar things at caller and her mother. Order stems from ongoing issues with break-ins and other disputes. Today, caller said a young female was rude to caller’s mother and walked on her property to her house. Caller requested documentation only to build on their case.
