The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 21-27, 2022.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Jan. 23
3:20 p.m., Plank Rod, Montville. Two bulls walking freely. They belong on Whitney Road. Bulls are walking on the ditch line on 86. Caller is afraid they will walk in the road. Bulls were placed in the pen.
ASSAULT
Jan. 21
8:29 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Brown GMC truck, male, came in the house and hit the caller. Met on a dating site. Left the house, unknown direction. Caller thinks lives in Chardon. Male was located and arrested by sheriff’s deputy and Chardon PD.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Jan. 25
1:23 p.m., Wilson Mills Road, Munson. Theft of a 1903 rifle from the house, possibly June of 2021. Complainant advised he could come to GCSO to file complete written statement. Complainant just called back and said rifle was located and he no longer needs a report.
Jan. 26
12:12 p.m., Greystone Drive, Troy. Would like to speak to a deputy regarding her 18-year-ol son who will not go to Auburn Career Center and they will not do anything about it. She would like some advice. Advice given regarding 18-year-old son not going to school.
EXTRA PATROL
Jan. 21
6:11 p.m., Tracy Lane, Troy. Caller believes his neighbor is cutting his lead to his dog leash. Caller is requesting extra patrol, not a report at this time. Deputy advised. Extra patrol completed.
FRAUD
Jan. 27
12:50 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Requesting a deputy for fraud report. Someone attempted to open a KeyBank account using caller’s identity. KeyBank fraud division is investigating the incident. Advice given.
3:56 p.m., Jug Street, Troy. Complainant attempted an ATM withdrawal from Huntington Bank in Middlefield Village on Jan. 7 and noticed his balance was off by several thousand dollars. He walked into the Middlefield branch and was advised by a teller that a check for $7,310.45 was presented and cashed. Caller claims he did not write the check. Caller has a follow up appointment with the bank manager. Under investigation.
HARASSMENT
Jan. 27
7:10 p.m., Bainbridge Road, Auburn. Spoke with complainant in the lobby. He said he is having trouble with a former band member they had kicked out of the band a couple weeks ago. Complainant said the male is now harassing him on social media by posting memes of him on his Instagram account. Complainant provided deputy with copies of the posts to look over. Posts were not threatening in any way. Complainant was advised to block this male on all social media accounts. Nothing criminal. Advice given.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
Jan. 22
10:26 a.m., Main Market Road, Troy. 17-year-old neighbor boy continues to harass the business owner’s customers. Female customers, especially, are afraid of the male. Subject asks for money, alcohol and cigarettes. Business owner has told him multiple times to stop but 20 minutes later he is out there doing the same thing. Complainant requested that male and his mother be advised that subject is no longer welcome on the property. Spoke with mother and she advised OK.
Jan. 27
2:49 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Female just pulled up saying there are children in the yard pointing guns at passing cars. Child playing in the snow with a nerf gun. Spoke to him and advised to play safe if he is near the road.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Jan. 21
8:33 p.m., Kile Road, Montville. Caller’s 18-year-old son is turfing his yard. Green Jeep. Deputy advised. He may be going to his girlfriend’s house in Munson. Caller’s son was kicked out of the house yesterday.
SUSPICIOUS
Jan. 25
9:47 p.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Female walking around in from of fitness center. She keeps peeking inside building. Female was found walking. Chardon PD responded due to having to speak to her. She advised she had a bowl on her. She was issued a summons for the marijuana bowl. Chardon PD took her home. Report to follow.
THEFT
Jan. 22
1:19 p.m., Doty Road, Parkman. Complainant is at Middlefield PD to meet with a deputy. He needs to report a fill-in driver has been stealing checks from his checkbook. He already has stolen $4,500 and has six additional checks unaccounted for. Complainant requests incident be documented only until he speaks with driver.
Jan. 27
11:14 a.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Caller asked to speak to a deputy regarding theft of jewelry. Caller had her bracelet cleaned at a jewelry store and thinks they replaced four of her diamonds with different diamonds. Bracelet appeared to be very clean. She was advised to have another jeweler look over the bracelet to see if any diamonds had been switched out.
THREATENING
Jan. 21
6:06 p.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. On post to report death threats. Spoke with female in the lobby. She said she was at Middlefield PD to report that the male who had threatened her before had driven by where she is now staying in the village today very slowly. Middlefield told her to report the prior threat to the sheriff’s office. She was told this incident that occurred today would be documented. Advice given.
Jan. 22
12:40 p.m., Westfield Drive, Newbury. Male recently assaulted caller’s juvenile daughter. He is now threatening to shoot up their house as well as her friend’s homes. Female suffered a black eye and bruises, and moved to Newbury to get away from him. Caller also seeking advice on obtaining a protective order. Once on scene, deputy found evidence of assault against the female. Alleged threat and assault were made by a 16-year-old male from Eastlake. An investigation into the accused will continue and extra patrol has been requested. Evidence and written statements collected.
Jan. 26
8:53 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Male in site making threats to shot the building up. No weapons seen. Unknown name, came to Next Step to get belongings from a girl. He is outside the building. He is wearing a ski mask and is in the vestibule. He is attempting to leave. Male is 19. One male arrested for aggravated menacing. Report to follow.
TRAFFIC CRASH
Jan. 25
2:39 p.m., Clark Road, Chardon. Car tried to pass caller and then he wiped out sideways in the ditch. Older Toyota, all over the road prior to this incident. Male was aggressive toward caller. He is sitting in the car.
