The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 26 to Nov. 2, 2023.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Nov. 1

3:06 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Five Rottweilers loose in the caller’s yard trying to get the chickens and ducks. Caller has two dogs as well but they are inside. Advised caller to contact the dog warden. Caller called back to advise all chickens and ducks have been killed. The caller’s boyfriend shot a gun into the ground and the Rottweilers ran off. The dogs ran down 322 towards the Tavern.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Oct. 31

4:59 p.m., W. Spring Street, Burton. Male and female fighting; she broke his phone and is throwing. Female keeps following caller and yelling. She has hit him several times. Started over female not being able to find her glasses. She punched him in the side of face and throat, also tried to poke his eye. She

was swinging an electrical cord around trying to hit him. Male is on her phone because she smashed his. She is demanding her phone back. Two firearms in the house, locked and secured. Pistol in the car that’s also secured. Parked in the neighbor’s driveway. He just came home from the military two months ago.

Nov. 2

9:50 p.m., Elm Drive, Newbury. Caller’ss husband and his brother are fighting. Physically fighting. Female not giving info. Female hung up, called back left voicemail. No weapons. Injuries to mouth, jaw, hands and elbow, ribs. Both parties had physical injuries and both parties were actively fighting each other. Transported to UH-Geauga for minor injuries. See report.

ESCORT

Oct. 26

12:43 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller advising the Sunoco owner said he could put signs out but than an individual from the Democratic party took them down. Landowner stated that they have the ability to and they keep taking them down. Male is asking for a deputy to escort him there to put more up and tell them to stop taking them down. Complainant spoke with Democratic Chairperson who advised they have in their lease exclusive signage rights. Complainant and chairperson had a civil conversation will follow up with the owner of the property.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Oct. 29

2:59 p.m., Madison Road, Parkman. Sometime last night someone vandalized the caller’ss vehicle. Last weekend they stole his mailbox along with the post. Caller is also requesting extra patrol through the night hours. Complainants windshield was broken over night along with his side mirror. Also his mailbox was taken two weeks ago. No suspects at this time. Complainant believes he and his family are being targeted by local amish youth because he left the church approximately a year ago.

SUSPICIOUS

Oct. 28

5 p.m., Stafford Road, Auburn. Caller has camera footage of a suspect that broke into his wife’s car on Tuesday. Nothing was taken. He would like to speak with a deputy. Caller reported a male on Tuesday night entered his property and went into his car. See report.

Oct. 31

9:13 a.m., Fairmount Road, Newbury. Four two tracking devices on his vehicle. Report taken.

Oct. 31

7:19 p.m., Forest Road, Claridon. Girlfriend is home alone at this address heard someone ring doorbell and is scared because door is unlocked. Called in third party. Continues to hear the dog responding to noises at the door. No family expected. Was found to be Halloween brownies and a bottle of wine delivered to front door.

THEFT

Oct. 26

8:52 a.m., Madison Road, Parkman. 911 hang up. On call back, the male is indicating that he had a battery stolen from him by a friend. Believes a male took it. The male stayed with him for three or four days then left. Described as a male not too old but not too young. Not too short or tall. Driving a white Chevy truck that’s old. Will attempt to locate.
