The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 17 through June 23. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 410 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL ABUSE

June 17

9:23 p.m., Bud Drive, Middlefield. Caller states there is a dog who is in an enclosed porch and the dog is yelping. Caller would like the dog checked on. She states that the dog is neglected and often goes without food or water. Deputy advised. The dog was inside the porch in a cage. It was barking but was unable to see it. Advised the complainant to contact the Dog Warden on Monday.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

June 23

10:18 p.m., Music St., Newbury. Caller can hear a dog barking east of the intersection. She states it sounds like the dog may be stuck somewhere and the dog has been barking for a half hour straight. Deputy located the dogs and home owner who advised they just arrived home from a long day. They explained everything was okay and they would try to keep the dogs from barking more.

EXPLOSIVES

June 19

12:21 a.m., Ravenna Road, Chardon. House across the street has a group of young people who are partying and blowing things up. Sounds like possibly fireworks. Loud boom and the house shakes. Deputy checked and everything was okay. All party goers are of age and staying on the property. No fireworks at the residence.

EXTRA PATROL

June 22

11:26 a.m., Chardon Windsor, Huntsburg. This road is newly paved but not stripped and has become a short cut because it’s long and a nice straight of way. There are so many new vehicles on this stretch now and they fly. The worst is 6-8 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. There are so many buggies, scooters and kids on this road and we would like folks to slow down.

SUSPICIOUS

June 17

4:14 p.m., Pioneer Road, Huntsburg. The complainant advised that two white males came to his house claiming to be with a paving company. They were last seen about an hour ago. They are driving a large maroon truck. The males were acting evasive and would not provide a business number. The caller would like to meet with a deputy and have the area checked. Deputy spoke with the complainant who said that two guys in a nice truck stopped by asking if he wanted his driveway paved. He said they were acting suspicious and he wanted to report the incident in case they came back.

June 23

1:39 p.m., Ravenwood Drive, Claridon. Minivan, silver, has been in the parking lot for several days. Deputy responded. Vehicle belongs to a TLC client. TLC worker advised that they told the female to park her vehicle here due to her disability. TLC was advised the parking lot is being redone and the vehicle needs to be moved.

WEAPON OFFENSE

June 18

11:16 p.m., Radcliffe Road, Hambden. Caller reports a vehicle pulled up to the stop sign and shot off a few rounds and continued North on Brakeman. No other details available. The caller was in the house. Deputy checked the area and everything checked okay.
