Sheriff’s Report
May 4, 2017

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 21-27, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 440 calls during this seven-day period.

AGENCY ASSIST

April 25

4:47 p.m., Pioneer Road, Huntsburg. Bomb squad callout, Lake County. Lake County requested engine and squad to standby. Deputy responded to possible explosives found by complainant in his deceased father in-laws gun cabinet. Complainant found the box-marked explosives in the gun cabinet when he was cleaning it out. Told that he opened the box and observed what appeared to be possibly flares, but he was not sure and one of them appeared to be leaking and crystallizing on the outside. Complainant had no idea how long the had been in the gun cabinet because it had not been opened since 2000. Deputy looked at the explosives, which appeared to be old flares. Deputy contacted the bomb squad commander and advised him of the call. The bomb squad commander advised that they would come out and collect the. The bomb squad commander advised them they appeared to be old flares. The commander collected them and placed them into the TCV.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

April 22

7:17 p.m., Wilson Mills Road, Munson. Cow hanging out of the fence on Wilson Mills. Caller is afraid the cow is going to get loose. Deputy advised. The bull had its head out of the fence. The owner took care of it and fixed the broken electrical fence.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

April 24

6:52 p.m., Daniel Lane, Hambden. Caller advises neighbor throws dog feces in her yard all the time. He has four dogs. This has been an ongoing issue. She has contacted the park manager and nothing has been resolved. She has video of the neighbor doing this. Deputy advised. Complainant had video. Suspect was warned and advised he would not do it again.

SUSPICIOUS

April 21

11:53 p.m., Wilson Mills Road, Munson. Person standing between the trees by the road and threw a rock at caller’s car. Caller is unsure of the amount of damage, no windows broke, no injuries. Caller believes it may have been a young kid that threw the rock and retreated into the wooded area. One house in the area with lights on, person may have run in that direction.
