Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 28 to May 4, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 367 calls during this seven-day period.
BURGLARY
May 3
7:38 a.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Garage door and garage window broken. Motorcycle is gone. Occurred sometime last night. Owner just woke up to go to work to find this. Deputy advised. Theft of a Honda 4 wheeler, 2 dirt bikes and a chainsaw. Complainant will provide VIN and serial #s when found.
CITIZEN ASSIST
May 1
6:27 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Newbury. During the overnight hours the caller’s teenage daughter got her vehicle stuck on an unmarked dirt driveway. He responded to the location to get her vehicle out and ended up getting his truck stuck as well. He is requesting a deputy pick him up from the location and get him home so he could make arrangements. Deputy advised. Male left the area before deputy’s arrival.
LITTERING
April 30
8:23 p.m., Bundysburg Road, Huntsburg. Amish kids threw beer bottles in the ditch. The caller wants to meet. Deputy advised. Spoke to the complainant about underage Amish drinking, littering, loud music from the buggies. She was advised that we are aware of the problems, which occurs every weekend in the area. Extra patrol requested.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
April 29
10:31 a.m., Hikers Trail, Chardon. Basketball backboard has been shot and is now shattered and caller would like a report. Deputy advised. Complainant heard what he believed to be a .22 round discharged just prior to backboard shattering. No further shooting heard, unknown where it came from. Photographs obtained. Complainant provided with business card. Complainant was advised to call back if he hears more shooting or has any further problems.
