Sheriff’s Report
June 8, 2017

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office May 26 to June 1. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 443 calls during this seven-day period.

INTOX PERSON

May 28

2:00 p.m., STHY 87, Newbury. Intox male walking east bound. He is wearing a black jacket and black jeans. He is stumbling into traffic. Deputy advised. Male was leaving the store, who just purchased orange juice and sugar and was assisted to his residence due to inclement weather.

NOISE PROBLEM

May 28

1:11 a.m., South Blvd., Auburn. Neighbor is playing very loud music and won’t turn it down. They went next door and asked him to turn it down, he turned it up louder. Caller states they tried moving to the other side of their house to sleep, but it’s still too loud. Caller does not need to see a deputy. Deputy spoke with the homeowner, he stated he will stop playing music for the night.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

May 30

7:43 a.m., Legend Creek Drive, Munson. Caller needs a report for damage to a small pond. Overnight someone attempted to remove an in ground pond liner from the complainants yard. Suspects were unsuccessful. Complainant wished to have the incident documented should any further issues arise.

SUSPICIOUS

May 30

11:04 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Male sitting on a guardrail with no shirt, yelling on his phone. Also a car in a ditch just past that. Male was located by the Chester PD. He was the driver of the earlier crash. Male was transported back to the scene and subsequently arrested for OVI.

THEFT

May 26

11:39 a.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. The caller advised a contractor stole $38,000 from the caller. Deputy advised. Incident already investigated by prosecutor’s office. Spoke with prosecutor’s office who deemed it a civil matter. Advice given on how to obtain a copy of report.

TRAFFIC HAZARD

May 26

6:29 p.m., Thwing Road, Chardon. Caller reports that stop signs at Thwing and Auburn are very difficult to see due to overgrown brush. Caller would like it checked on. Deputy advised. Signs are not blocked.

WEAPON OFFENSE

May 27

10:29 a.m., Big Creek Ridge Drive, Hambden. The caller has pictures of a vehicle that was driving by shooting out the back. This occurred yesterday. Deputy advised. Complainant’s daughter saw someone shoot from a silver, four-door vehicle twice. She grabbed her phone and took a video of the car as it left the area. Vehicle was not familiar to complainant. Will call if vehicle returns.
