Sheriff’s Report
July 6, 2017

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office June 23-29, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 434 calls during this seven-day period.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

June 27

12:02 a.m., Bundysburg Road, Huntsburg. Neighbor keeps coming onto the caller’s property and killing their rabbits and chickens. Caller has witnessed them killing one of the rabbits before. This usually happens when they are not home. Caller would like to file a report. Deputy responded. Neighbor’s dogs killed two rabbits and this is an ongoing problem for years. Complainant wants incident documented and will contact the dog warden in the morning.

HARASSMENT

June 23

12:01 p.m., Burton Heights Boulevard, Burton. The caller received an anonymous note in his mailbox. He wants to file a harassment complaint. The note stated the caller needs to cut his grass. Complainant received a letter in the mail sometime overnight asking him to mow his grass because it looks bad for the neighborhood. Complainant stated he was not mowing the grass by the street because he wants it to grow out because he lives in the country. Burton Township does not have an ordinance for tall grass. Complainant wanted the incident documented in case he has any more problems with the person who left the letter. At this time it is unknown who wrote the letter or put it in his mailbox.

INJURED PERSON

June 27

6:25 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. 85-year-old had his truck roll onto him. His eyes are open, but is not talking. He is in a field with a silver Toyota Tacoma. You cannot see the truck from the road. The truck is off of him, but he is not breathing. The caller pushed the truck off of him with his car. He is not breathing and the caller is doing CPR.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

June 26

12:32 a.m., Walmart, Middlefield. Seven teens asked to leave, not leaving, climbing on counters. A group of young adults (early 20s) engaging in shenanigans. Asked to leave when two were seen climbing pop case displays. All were gone before deputy’s arrival.

SUSPICIOUS

June 24

11:24 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller just came home and his 18-year-old sister has about 40 people at the house drinking and using drugs. Parents are not home, no one should be at the residence. Deputy checked party and found to be OK. Advice given.

June 28

8:57 p.m., Rosetta Drive, Munson. Sixth house on the right hand side has tall grass in the yard. House sold on auction and there are kids in and out of it. There are beer bottles and the caller thinks there are drugs and parties involved. Deputy advised. Rear door open, unable to secure. No evidence of parties, either inside or out. No evidence of other criminal activity.
