Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 25-31, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 425 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Aug. 31
3:37 p.m., Hotchkiss Road, Burton. Neighbor tried to run the caller’s dog over with her silver Lincoln. Deputy spoke with the complainant. He said the neighbor drove up on his lawn and tried to run over his dog. Deputy looked at the area where the complainant said the neighbor drove and did not see any tire impressions in the grass. The complainant also said the neighbor speeds up and down her driveway at 60 mph. Deputy responded to the neighbors who showed deputy a video of today’s events and advised she records everything due to the on going dispute. She then showed Deputy the video. In the video the dogs were not anywhere near the driveway. Advice given to both parties.
EXTRA PATROL
Aug. 26
5:39 p.m., Tavern Road, Troy. Vehicle tore up callers yard two Fridays in a row. Appears to be a 4-wheel drive of some type. Drives through the yard and over the driveway throwing gravel everywhere. This usually occurs on Friday after 11 p.m. Caller has not witnessed this happed and doesn’t have a description of the vehicle. He would just like extra patrol of the area on Fridays after 11 p.m.
Aug. 30
1:13 p.m., Nauvoo Road, Middlefield. Extra patrol requested for subjects that were going door to door this past Saturday collecting money for subjects who were being possibly trafficked over seas. Caller advised subjects were of oriental decent. She also advised that her friend saw this on the World News and that a bust had been done. She is concerned now that they are out here. Caller refused name and call back information, but wanted someone to know and requested extra patrol, and will call if she sees them again.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Aug. 26
11:33 a.m., Swine Creek Road, Middlefield. The caller advised someone set a sign on fire in her front yard last night. Deputy advised. Sometime overnight-unknown person(s) set post that had a Howard Hanna sign hanging from it on fire. Post was near the roadway and out of sight of the homeowner. Report taken.
SUSPICIOUS
Aug. 28
2:40 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Caller let a male into her home and gave him a lot of information about herself and her neighbors. She is now thinking that this was a mistake. Male was about 5’7” in his 60’s, bald, drove a grey cargo van. She would like a report in case something happens. Deputy unable to locate vehicle. Male stating his “uncle” used to live in the house. Female allowed man in her home. Male asked about neighbors.
