Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 8-14, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 421 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Sept. 8
10:43 p.m., Forge Hill Drive, Parkman. Dog has been barking for several nights, caller doesn’t believe anyone has been home for several days. It will be the house on the corner. The dog has been barking for 3 hours tonight. The dog is behind the house. Deputy responded. The dogs are inside the home. They are not in distress, message left for resident, doesn’t appear to be anyone home.
Sept. 9
11:17 p.m., McCall Road, Parkman. Caller was coming home and there was a donkey in the middle of the road near a farm. She did not hit the animal, but wanted us to be aware that it was in the roadway. Deputy checked area and was unable to locate any donkey in the roadway.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Sept. 13
11:45 a.m., Parkwood Drive, Chardon. Amazon delivery vehicle is stuck in someone’s yard, needs assistance. Toyota Corolla, the back wheels are on the driveway but the front wheels are stuck in the mud/grass. Homeowner told me he would not help.
SUSPICIOUS
Sept. 11
6:09 p.m., Madison Road, Huntsburg. Three students found marijuana and paraphernalia last year and buried it. The school now has it and would like to see a Deputy. Staff did not actually recover the property from any students, nor did they know of it’s owners. Two pieces of marijuana paraphernalia were seized and will be entered into evidence for destruction.
Sept. 12
1:49 a.m., Thwing Road, Munson. Vehicle driving down the wrong side of the road stopping at mailboxes. Male was driving on the opposite side of the roadway, placing business sheets on the exterior of mailboxes. He was advised that he cannot drive on the opposite side of the roadway.
TRAFFIC STOP
Sept. 9
1:04 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Deputy attempted to stop semi possibly involved in hit skip in Solon but it would not stop. Semi continued East and finally pulled over at Industrial Circle. Drive of semi was detained while Deputy conducted his investigation. Deputy asked the driver why he did not stop at first. The driver said he was trying to find a safe place to pull off because that is what he was told to do in his state. Once finished with the investigation, Deputy advised the semi drier of the issue with his registration and that he needed to get it taken care of.
