The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 1 through July 7. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 437 calls during this seven-day period.
CITIZEN’S DISPUTE
July 3
3:38 p.m., Bean road, Munson. Caller reports his neighbor threw a bag of deceased animals on his property. There is no violence or interaction at this time between the neighbors. The caller does not know his neighbor’s name. Deputy advised. Dead animal had been moved off the property prior to deputies arrival. Reporting person advised he did not want me to talk to the neighbor.
EXTRA PATROL
July 7
9:46 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. Caller had a garage sale today and had two white males, possibly brothers, driving a rusty blue pickup truck stop at the garage sale. The caller was warned by an older gentleman at the garage sale that he is a retired police officer and the two males were “criminals” and they live in Aquinas Lake. The caller is requesting extra patrol the next few days. Caller also advised her adult son and a friend are at the house tonight and they are having a small get together and may be in the back yard. Deputy will patrol the area.
INDECENT EXPOSURE
July 6
5:17 p.m., N Cheshire St., Burton. White male wearing purple shorts leaning against a vehicle is exposing himself to everyone. Male is leaving and went around the circle. The male was talking to himself and exposing himself to everyone that passed by. Possibly at the high school. Deputy responded. Male is not at the High School, going to check Gas USA. Male is not at Gas USA. The male is in front of Arbys.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
July 2
10:53 a.m., Cutts Road, Hambden. Sometime after 3 a.m. last night, the caller’s back patio table and umbrella were damaged. The caller does not believe wind could have caused the damage and would like a deputy to view the table. Deputy advised. Table was damaged due to wind and rain. Advised complainant to close umbrella when done using so the wind can’t catch it and blow the table over again.
SUSPICIOUS
July 5
1:38 a.m., Mentor Road, Chardon. Someone came and rang the doorbell and then left. They checked the property and there wasn’t anyone around. The caller states they then heard a firework or possibly a gun outside. Only went off once. Caller states they don’t need to speak with a deputy, they’d just like the area checked.
July 5
5:24 a.m., Cloverdale Drive, Middlefield. Caller states he is receiving calls from an anonymous male accusing the caller of hitting his car. Caller states he has marks on his car on the front bumper. Deputy advised. Complainant stated someone has been calling him, and harassing him, but he does not know who it could be. He also has the number blocked. Complainant stated he believes someone has also been watching him and perhaps tampering with his vehicle. Complainant stated he has no proof of the tampering of his vehicle. Complainant stated he would like extra patrol by his residence.
THEFT
July 4
8:56 p.m., Bundysburg Road, Parkman. Caller and his friend interrupted a male breaking into the cash box on the ice house. Upper 30s wearing a bandana on his face, tattoos on his arms, heavy set. He left northbound on Bundysburg in a dark green pickup. Caller punched him and tried to restrain him but he was able to get away. Hospital advised. Bolt cutters and padlock were left at the location. Caller believes this same subject before broke into the cash box last night as well.
TRAFFIC CRASH
July 3
10:57 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Occurred over night. The vehicle is not there. Called in by the homeowner. His mailbox is destroyed and car parts are all over the place. Believes from a black GMC. Ohio Highway Patrol did take a two vehicle crash overnight at 6 and 166. Deputy responded. The mailbox was destroyed by a vehicle sometime after midnight. Vehicle a GMC identified by pieces at the location. No other evidence or leads.
