The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 5-11. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 342 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Aug. 7
6:35 p.m., Music Street, Newbury. Cow heading eastbound on the road. Deputy advised. Owners currently walking roadway looking for it.
ASSAULT
Aug. 9
9:34 p.m., Country River Lane, Newbury. Mother under influence of drugs/alcohol is flipping out, smashing property, busted a light out and is hitting people. No weapons in house. Mother called 911 and said her 21-year-old daughter called 911 about a domestic. Mother said daughter had problems with Portage County Sheriff’s Office this evening. Mother admitted to drinking wine earlier. Mother advised daughter is recovering heroin addict. Now mother is afraid to leave room.
BURGLARY
Aug. 8
8:52 a.m., Main Market Rod, Troy. Multiple storage units broken into over weekend. Meet at office, deputy advised. Between Friday and Sunday night 10 units were broken into. Locks were cut off by a bolt cutter. Deputy looked into units and it appears nothing disturbed. Will contact owners.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Aug. 6
11:11 p.m., Williams Road, Hambden. Class reunion going on and they are not leaving with a lot of drinking that took place. Caller would like someone to drive through. Checked OK.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Aug. 11
7:51 p.m., Walden Oaks Drive, Munson. Teenage adult and father are physically fighting. No intoxication, no drug use. Caller is minor teenager. Brother told family he was going to kill everyone. He has ADHD. Left on foot. Brother back and standing on street. Suspect threw a rock at dad but did not hit him. Standing at street screaming. One male arrested for DV. Report to follow.
EXTRA PATROL
Aug. 7
10:09 a.m., Rapids Road, Troy. Large diesel trucks drag racing last night down Rapids. Wife and son were almost hit. Requesting extra patrol in area. They do this all day. They live on Greystone Drive. All burnout marks on Rapids are from them.
FRAUD
Aug. 7
4:09 p.m., Madison Road, Montville. Caller would like to make a report for email fraud. He is receiving emails from someone stating to be from Paypal and he contacted Paypal and the emails are not coming from them. Attempted scam.
Aug. 9
3:12 p.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Complainant wanting to file fraud report. She is selling a couch on craigslist and found a buyer and they sent her a check for the couch. Complainant took check to bank and it was no good. She did not loose money and will not deal with this individual again. Complainant said the name of buyer was not a real name either. Just wanted incident documented.
HARASSMENT
Aug. 8
10:59 a.m., Ravenna Road, Newbury. Would like to speak with deputy regarding female harassing me over the phone. Complainant said his ex-girlfriend keeps harassing him by calling and texting him. Said in her texts she keeps telling him she will drop all charges if they back together. Complainant said in past she has filed charged against him and took out protection order. He is worried she will do it again. Does not wish to pursue criminal charges; he just wants incident documented in case she tries to file charges or get a PO against him. Advice given.
JUVENILE PROBLEM
Aug. 7
5:38 p.m., Zenith Drive, Newbury. Caller states neighbors are hitting rocks with tennis rackets and one almost hit him. Spoke with both parties. Advised suspects they may be charged if this continues.
SUSPICIOUS
Aug. 6
1:56 p.m., Lost Lake Trail, Auburn. Some pest control company is all over the neighborhood. They have been here for three days. They are really pushy. They are on foot; no cars have been seen. Deputy spoke with male from company. He was advised of complaint and said there had been a company out here prior that is known for being rude and it was not him. Male had proper solicitor’s permit. Complainant advised via phone.
Aug. 7
1:15 a.m., Townline Road, Windsor. Something in the westbound lane near Troy Lumber. Looks like a beer can close by. Looks like a person, but caller cannot tell and she is concerned. Deputy checked. Someone placed a dummy in the road and poured ketchup all over it. Call cleared.
Aug. 8
7:44 p.m., Reeves Road, Parkman. Caller believes someone put cameras in his house. Advice given.
Aug. 9
7:44 p.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Male on ground being kicked. Six or seven males. No known weapons. Caller advising group of juveniles had a subject on the ground kicking him multiple times. Now standing around cars. Caller nev er observes any juveniles on the ground; caller is not close enough to provide a description of the fallen juveniles. Deputies arrived on scene and determined group was joking around with each other. Deputies spoke with males and they all stated same thing.
Aug. 10
10:42 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Complainant dropped off check from Publisher’s Clearing House. She thinks it is a fraud. Party just wanted the GCSO to be aware of the scam that is circulating. Documents destroyed.
8:32 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Male running down the street yelling profanities eastbound on Mayfield. Dressed in all black, dark hair, dark complexion. Caller would like area checked and to speak with deputy. Checked area. GOA/UTL.
9:40 p.m., Auburn Road, Auburn. Male approximately 60 came to caller’s back door stating he was a delivery man and was asking for caller’s address. Wearing blue shirt and had grey hair. Male did not pull his vehicle all the way up driveway and caller does not know which way man went when he left. Male had delivery shirt on (unknown company) and khaki shorts. He had clipboard and flashlight. He said he had wrong address and left. Deputies checked area.
THREATENING
Aug. 8
3:46 p.m., Mayfield Road, Huntsburg. Complainant was trying to clear some trees off his property and neighbor is making threats and harassing me. He has threatened to kick my ass and also showed a knife in past. Complainant would like to speak with deputy. Neighbors given advice regarding what each neighbor can do on their own property. Advised to call GCSO instead of yelling at each other.
