The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office July 15 through July 21. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 411 calls during this seven-day period.
ILLEGAL BURNING
July 17
10:07 a.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. First place west of the gas station, a small sticking fire burning all night and it is really bothersome. Caller has called over a dozen times and he seems to think that the FD will not address the issue. Caller wants Sheriff’s Office to respond with the FD. Deputy advised. Recreational fire, out investigating. Illegal burning complaint, FD handled. Fire has been extinguished.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
July 18
7:40 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Caller believes his car may have been shot with something while driving past the drive-in theater, blue VW Golf. Deputy advised. Unknown object, possibly a rock struck the windshield causing damage. Complainant was concerned that it was an errant bullet.
SUSPICIOUS
July 17
6:33 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Last week a 50-60 year old male came into the Dollar General Store and exposed himself to the clerk while at the register. The caller states this same male did the same thing to a coworker. Deputy advised. The caller believes this subject is frequently at the Amish hangout next to The Frozen Delight. The clerk couldn’t remember when the alleged incident occurred, she thought she should report it. They couldn’t find any evidence of it on the surveillance footage at this time. The clerk was advised that if the male comes in and acts suspicious, she should call immediately.
July 21
10:32 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Caller reports the stop ahead road sign has been thrown on her front porch. The caller sees no vehicles or persons. Deputy responded. Prepare to stop sign was pulled out of the ground in the area of the complainants house, the sign was thrown on their steps. No other damage or suspicious activity was seen. Advised the road department of the missing sign.
THEFT
July 21
4:54 p.m., Patch Road, Troy. Caller believes someone broke into his house between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. today. When he arrived home he found the side door open and damage was done to the door. He noticed jewelry missing from the jewelry box. Report taken.
TRAFFIC HAZARD
July 19
5:10 p.m., LaDue Trail, Auburn. The complainant stated someone on his road is having landscape work done. The landscape company has dumped rocks and dirt on the road. The landscape trucks and materials are partially blocking the roadway and the caller is concerned if there was an emergency truck, would they be able to get through. Deputy responded. No hazard at this time. Roadway will be clear within the hour.
