Sheriff’s Report

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 9 through Sept. 15. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 356 calls during this seven-day period.

Sept. 14

8:36 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller is requesting a deputy, the clerk at the Speedway refused sales because of the lack of ID. The clerk told the female to leave the business. Caller will be waiting in a red Dodge Durango. She was upset that the clerk was yelling at her. Parties are separated. Deputy advised. The patron was advised if she didn’t like to get her ID checked that she could go somewhere else. Advice given.

 

DRUGS/ALCOHOL

Sept. 13

1:15 p.m., Aquilla Road, Claridon. Requesting K9 drug search for contraband in the Youth Center. Recently found people smoking. Deputy and K9 checked the group home for narcotics. K9 gave a trained response to a night stand in the male living quarter near room. Staff was notified.

 

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Sept. 9

6:25 p.m., Reeves Road, Parkman. Caller passed an Amish buggy with a bunch of teenagers in it. The teenagers blew an air horn as the caller passed. The buggy pulled into the location on Reeves. Deputy responded. The male used his horn to alert the driver of another buggy traveling in the opposite direction when they passed.

 

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Sept. 15

2:27 p.m., Ravenwood Drive, Claridon. Complainant in lobby reporting damage to veterans memorial. Complainant stated someone tried to scratch his name off The Citizen of Geauga monument. He requests the Sheriff’s Office make extra patrols at the monument and past his home, incase this was personal against him and not just some kids playing around.

 

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 11

11:48 a.m., Burton Windsor Road, Huntsburg. At the Pleasant Valley school possible vandalism here. While on patrol, Deputy observed Pleasant Valley Amish School’s yard had been TPed and several empty beer cans in the driveway. The exterior checked okay and no property damage was observed.

 

Sept. 12

10:49 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Male in the pub has been drinking and is still drinking. Call stated that he is acting strange and should not be driving. Deputy spoke with the bartender who stated the guy was arguing with him about sports. Also the guy only had two beers. Advice was given and they asked me not to speak with the male.

 

Sept. 15

7:33 a.m., Munn Road, Auburn. Caller states that there is something wrapped in clear plastic that looks like a body. On Munn Road approximately 1/4 mile south of Taylor May on the east side of the roadway. Deputy responded. Large plastic bag containing carpet scrapes. Removed from the side of roadway and taken to a dumpster.
