Sheriff’s Report

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 6-8. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 139 calls during this three-day period.

CITIZEN’S DISPUTE

Sept. 7
9:54 a.m., Hermitage Road, Chardon. Civil dispute over riders from different barns and portions of the property riding on each other sections, however owners are in an LLC. Complainant advised they posted signs for riders from one section not to enter upon the other sections and they have been removed two times. Deputy responded to location and spoke to the complainant. Complaint involves family members, businesses and going against written and verbal contracts. Complainant understands her situation is a civil matter and wanted advice.

 

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Sept. 8
2:21 p.m., Leader Road, Hambden. Caller reports a white juvenile male approximately 6 years of age pulled the callers Time Warner cable out of the protected box and it appears he cut it. The juvenile ran off. Caller is reporting their cable is now out. Deputy spoke with the complainant, who advised they observed a neighborhood boy cut the line, although they did not know who he was or where he lived. Documentation only at this point. The complainant advised they would contact the S.O. if the needed further assistance.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 8
5:34 p.m., Thompson Road, Thompson. Female saw a vehicle in Thompson that she believes may be a vehicle that was involved in a child abduction in April of 2015. She saw a post on Fox 8 with the description of the vehicle involved in the abduction and there is a vehicle on the south side of Thompson Road between Dewey and Madison Road that is listed “for sale” and it matches the description given on Fox 8. Deputy located the vehicle in Lake County. The vehicle in question per Fox 8 is a Chevy Malibu 4 door, white in color. The vehicle found was a white two door 3000 GT.

THEFT

Sept. 7
1:26 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. $2,000 dollars taken from residence. Theft of approximately $2,000 during Labor Day party at house. Money was taken from a cupboard in the kitchen. Complainant stated that she believes that it may have been a family member that has a drug history. Complainant advised Deputy that she does not want the SO to investigate the theft and does not want to pursue charges. Only wanted the information documented.

TRAFFIC CRASH

Sept. 6
4:27 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Car into a pond. Male is in the vehicle. Water over the hood. It is coming into the vehicle. Vehicle is 100 yards back on the property. Male is disabled and the vehicle slipped into gear and is in the pond. Water is up to the callers knee. Back tires are still on shore but front end is in the water. Vehicle is a minivan.

VANDALISM

Sept. 6
1:10 a.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Vandalism in the jail. Inmate destroyed multiple items in the jail. Suspect while upset with restrictions, threw and broke multiple items inside of the jail including board games, puzzles and a mop. Male arrested.
