Sheriff’s Report

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office September 23 through September 29. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 385 calls during this seven-day period.

CITIZEN’S DISPUTE

Sept. 29
6:55 p.m., Hazy Morning Drive, Parkman. Across the street the neighbors are setting up campers and the caller is trying to sell her house. The caller does not think they are allowed to set up campers and tents due to living in a sub division. She would to speak with a deputy. Deputy assigned. Not a law enforcement issue. Complainant advised to file a complaint with zoning as it is a zoning issue and not a criminal issue.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Sept. 25
3:34 p.m., Old State Road, Claridon. Couple came home from vacation and found a window broken out of their Jeep like someone hit it. Deputy advised. Grass clippings found around the passenger side of the vehicle. Limestone in ground around where the jeep was parked. It appears that the grass was cut and a stone shattered the passenger side window of the vehicle.

SUSPICIOUS

Sept. 24
12:29 a.m., Tilden Road, Troy. Truck parked across the street. Caller says he believes he saw 3 or 4 flashlights and they are being loud. Caller states he also saw a girl run out of the woods earlier in the day, and possibly the same truck picked the female up. Caller states they keep shining the lights into his house. He is getting ready to leave. They would like a deputy check the area. Coonhunters running their dog on public hunting land.

Sept. 24
11:19 p.m., Auburn Road, Chardon. Male is laying in the roadway, near the mailbox very close to the road. Appears to be highly intoxicated. Deputy checked the area. Subject was taken home by a patron.

Sept. 25
5:48 p.m., Linda Drive, Newbury. Caller suspects maintenance from Scranton Woods came into her residence without her permission or knowledge. She did not notice anything missing from the property but she now has a lot of bugs and flies in her house and she does not leave the doors or windows open. She believes that maintenance may have planted bed bugs in her mattress. She would like to make a report. Deputy advised complainant to contact main housing office to express her complaint of bed bugs.

Sept. 27
3:02 a.m., Bell St., Newbury. Caller states there are people in her woods again, they are shining lights in the windows. Caller says they went outside to look for them, and did not see them. They did not see the people, just the lights. Caller states at one point she did see someone walking near the back porch. Caller states it looked like one flashlight. Deputy checked the area and was unable to locate anyone. no signs of anyone walking around or near the home.

Sept. 29
8:14 p.m., Old State, Hambden. Northern most entrance to public hunting. Possible that someone is lost. There is a car honking and shining lights into the woods. Deputy advised. The hunter is out of the woods. The hunter turned around in brush. Assisted with lights, the male found his way out without incident.
