Sheriff’s Report
October 26, 2017

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 13-19, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 408 calls during this seven-day period.

ALCOHOL OFFENSE

Oct. 18

7:21 p.m., Brightwood Drive, Newbury. Caller states there is an underage drinking party going on. Deputy checked the area and was unable to locate any underage drinkers or a large amount of people gathered in the area. Deputy checked the area again and could not locate any party. Caller called back and said “there’s a 4-wheeler going up and down the street running a bus service to the lake”. Deputy sat in the area and was unable to locate anyone riding a quad. Spoke to residence in the area and they stated they have not seen or heard any quads in the area.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Oct. 14

1:51 p.m., Kile Road, Claridon. Caller reported that last Saturday windshield was damaged. Deputy responded to location and met with complainant. Complainant advised a week ago today, he heard a loud bang from the barn and later noticed a full circle crack on windshield. Vehicle was parked unoccupied in the driveway. Complainant further stated that he did not witness anyone around and decided to report the incident today. Deputy looked at the windshield and was unable to locate any signs of impact.

SUSPICIOUS

Oct. 15

10:50 p.m., Lancaster Drive, Auburn. Caller heard a doorbell when they answered no one was at the door. They saw headlights pulling out of the driveway. Caller could not give a description. Deputy patrolled the area and spoke to the complainants. They are unsure of who was at their door but believe it may be juveniles since school is out tomorrow.

Oct. 16

3:44 a.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Caller hears some kind of alarm going off near the YMCA. See’s a red flashing light that way also. Deputy checked area, it was the septic system alarm, behind Refound Treasures. The alarm as silenced; however, the red light still blinks. Complainant was advised of the findings. Business checked ok.

Oct. 16

7:32 a.m., Lancaster Drive, Auburn. Caller was leaving for work and saw a male sleeping in a White Ford Pickup. Caller see’s white tennis shoes and dark windows. Caller stated “we don’t have anybody sleeping in our subdivision so it’s kind of unusual.” Deputy advised. Contractor had arrived early at a job site, complainant was contacted and advised.
