Sheriff’s Report
November 3, 2016

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 21-27. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 340 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Oct. 24

1:09 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. There is a guy in a green Jeep or red car at the Munson Park that let his dog off the leash and it ran to play with the kids at the school during recess. He is still at the park now and has the dog with him. Would like someone to tell him not to let his dog off leash while the kids are playing outside.

Oct. 25

11:06 a.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. Dog has been barking inside of the residence for the last two days. The complainant went over to the residence and the dog does stick his head out of a hole in the residence. Complainant has not seen anyone at the residence either. Deputy responded. No barking heard in area upon arrival. Spoke with the resident via phone who advised he is gone and the dog is fine.

EXPLOSIVES

Oct. 22

6:24 p.m., Fox Road, Troy. Caller says there is a party across the street and they set off a “bomb.” He heard a very loud explosion that took his breath away. Caller also said that they are racing their trucks up and down the roadway. Deputy sat in the area, did not hear any explosions. Went to the house, the complainant advised they were making noise.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Oct. 23

8:35 p.m., Leader Lane, Hambden. Caller says the neighbor’s kids are running around in the roadway, kicking a ball at her vehicle and trailer. The caller took the juvenile’s ball and has it now. The kids are still in the roadway. Deputy spoke with the complainant and the three juveniles involved, as well as their parents. They were given a final warning about trespassing and kicking soccer balls at people’s cars and houses. They all apologized and stated it wouldn’t happen again.

SUSPICIOUS

Oct. 21

6:44 p.m., Rock Creek Road, Thompson. Caller thinks they are dealing drugs out of the shed across the street. It is beige with brown trim. Silver small car pulled and ran back to the shed real quick. Caller said he has video and is willing to let an officer use his home to get more video.

TRAFFIC OFFENSE.

Oct. 25

7:04 p.m., Widgeon Drive, Auburn. Small black car that lives at this address has been racing up and down the road for the past 15 minutes. Has been an ongoing problem for the past few years. Caller also suggested the driver may have had some alcohol tonight. Deputy advised. Vehicle was located in the driveway. Owner stated he just purchased the vehicle and was tuning the car. Owner stated he would not drive the car up and down the development anymore. Advice was given.

UNSECURE PREMISE

Oct. 24

12:03 p.m., Forest Road, Claridon. Female found a yellow lab five doors down from its house listed on its tags. Female was able to get the dog back to the house, tied it to a picnic table and noticed the front door to the house wide open. No one appears to be around. Dispatch contacted the homeowners who did not answer. Caller who located the dog, tied the dog to a picnic table and left. She didn’t want to go near the residence. Deputy responded to location. Residence appears to be ok, shut the front door.
