Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 28 through Nov. 3. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 403 calls during this seven-day period.
AGENCY ASSIST
Oct. 29
1:01 a.m., Gridled Road, Leroy. Keeney Sand and Stone request for K9 to locate males that stole a front end loader. K9 track deployed in gravel pit. Muddy conditions. Suspects were off roading and got their vehicle stuck. Suspects then stole a front end loaded and attempted to free their vehicle which caught fire. K9 tracked from the area of the burning vehicles approximately 400 yards to where a foot print was found next to where the front end loader had to have been parked.
CHILD ABUSE
Nov. 2
4:42 p.m., Madison Road, Parkman. Caller asking to meet a deputy at the BP in Parkman. She would like to report an incident that she witnessed this morning when dropping her children off at the day care. She observed an employee snatch a child younger than 2 by the arm and throw them into a high chair. Caller has notified JFS but she was instructed to make a police report. Caller is returning to the day care is 20 minutes and wold like to report the incident.
CITIZEN’S DISPUTE
Nov. 2
1:03 p.m., Bell St., Newbury. Caller is on their way to the horse farm on Bell Road and someone has vandalized it. Caller got a phone call from a 17 year old girl at the house alone and she is scared. Her mom is out of town. The gates are removed and someone dug a hole in the driveway. Caller will be in a large gold Chevy pickup. My daughter boards her horse here.
EXTRA PATROL
Oct. 31
6:28 p.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Requesting extra patrol overnight. The caller has had some recent vandalism and someone attempted to steal her propane take off her grill the other night. Extra patrol will be provided.
INFO REPORT
Oct. 31
1:57 a.m., Bundysburg Road, Huntsburg. Checked on a buggy in the ditch on Bundysburg. Unoccupied, no horse with it. It is completely off the roadway, not causing any hazard. Not towing it out, believes owner will likely return for it in the morning.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Oct. 30
9:05 a.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Mailbox has been getting smashed. This time the mailbox and post taken. Complainant stated this is the third incident since June 2016, his mailbox has been damage, or taken. The complainant stated it always has occurred on Saturday nights between the hours of 11:00 p.m., and 1:00 a.m. He requests the Sheriff’s Office conduct a extra patrol by his residence on Saturday nights.
SUSPICIOUS
Oct. 28
9:48 p.m., Georgia Road, Middlefield. Owner called. Someone called him and told him there is a semi loading up tractors. Owner states that is not authorized. Owner is on the way. Driver was picking up his tractor. Had proper paperwork.
