The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Sept. 5-11. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 362 calls during this seven-day period.
CITIZEN’S ASSIST
Sept. 9
6:22 p.m., Wilbert Road, Munson. Deputies have been in and out of the area checking on the caller’s neighbor. The complainant recently found a pile of needles in the ditch while walking in the area. Male located two syringes and already disposed of them. He just had questions about if they could have possibly been used with narcotics. Advice was given to the caller. He was advised to call us if more items are located. These two needles were located in the ditch near the residence.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
Sept. 6
8:19 p.m., Hayes Road, Middlefield. The caller’s 18-year-old daughter took the parents’ Internet router and will not give it back. She has not been physically violent. No weapons. No drug use. Father called back and said daughter has returned the router. Deputy advised. Family members were having a disagreement over the use of the Internet. Advice given to all parties.
EXTRA PATROL
Sept. 9
8:23 a.m., Hart Road, Montville. White quad cab Chevy truck pulled into driveway twice at 6:30 a.m. Unknown who this could be, nobody is at the residence. Black Honda CRV may be in the driveway. Mother was advised and may check the house. Had problems with duck hunters in the past being on the property.
FIREWORKS
Sept. 7
7:28 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller is from Kiwanis Lake. He has been hearing someone shoot fireworks off all night long and it’s still going on. It’s coming from the west, possibly near Zeppe’s Pizza or the mulch place between Kiwanis Lake and Auburn Road. Deputy advised. Hunters hunting geese at Oberland Park in Newbury Township. Hunters have paperwork stating they have permission from the township trustees to be on the property.
HARASSMENT
Sept. 11
3:19 p.m., Auburn Road, Munson. Deputy spoke to the complainant referencing harassing phone calls from a debt collector. The complainant is not involved with the
collection agency; they are looking for someone else, but have been calling all members of his family. Complainant advised he received several phone calls from CCM about a collection in his mother’s name. He advised he received several phone calls even though he had nothing to do with the debt. Deputy called the number and spoke with a supervisor who advised all communication with the complainant has stopped. It should be noted the agency had the complainant listed as a “reference” and they advised they were in compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Act.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Sept. 5
2:03 p.m., Munn Road, Newbury. Deep truck tracks by the garage and some flowers have been damaged. Complainant stated a vehicle drove into her driveway some time last night between 11:30 p.m. and 6:15 a.m. Today when she was sleeping, there was a tire print in her newly paved driveway. Complainant would like extra patrol in the area during the evening hours.
ROAD RAGE
Sept. 9
11:06 a.m., Wake Robin Drive, Newbury. Caller was riding her bike on Bell Road and states she was forced off the road by a female driving a brown van that went to go around a garbage truck. Caller stated she flipped off the driver and told her to screw off. When she did this, the driver turned around and flashed a badge, threatening her and stating she is law enforcement. Caller has the plate number and wants a report.
SUSPICIOUS
Sept. 5
9:52 a.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Complainant states someone is dropping off bags of cat litter on the property in the early morning hours. Trooper advised. Somebody keeps dumping bags of used kitty litter in the complainant’s yard on Monday and Thursday nights. Complainant is requesting extra patrol in the area during the evening hours.
Sept 7
7:21 a.m., Madison Road, Parkman. Someone’s set of footprints come all the way from 528, possibly from the 800 tower, across all the fields, across the creek and avoided all the complainant’s security lights and looked into the window. This was at the garage where all the equipment is stored. Would like to speak to a deputy. Complainant noticed that someone walked through his yard last night and approached his rear storage building. Subject looked into the building through the opened window. Nobody entered the building or stole anything from the property. Tracks come in from the north of the complainant’s address by the Parkman Tower. Complainant is requesting extra patrol in the area during the evening hours.
1:15 p.m., Briarwood Avenue, Newbury. Caller just observed a man break into the window of her neighbor’s house. House is on the corner of Edgewater and Briarwood. Male is wearing a dark blue shirt and jeans, buzz cut brown hair, thin and tall. Male came into the area on foot. He removed a screen from the window on the west side of the house, opened the window and crawled through. There is a door on the opposite side of the house and the caller will not be able to see if he leaves through that door. Deputy responded. Male slid into the window and lives at the home, he forgot his key. Male had outstanding warrant out of Maple Heights.
11:43 p.m., Forest Road, Claridon. Caller states he hears people fighting in the roadway in the area of his neighbor’s house. Sounds like a possible domestic dispute. He heard a person running north shortly after. Caller advised that the neighbor’s house in question is to the south of his on the east side of the road. Deputy responded. Female returned to residence from a corn field. Female states her husband was upset about something her daughter said and ran into the corn field. Female stated her husband calmed down and was picked up by his sister and taken home.
Sept. 11
2:10 p.m., Taylor May Road, Auburn. Yesterday between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., she received a call stating that sheriff’s units and a K9 unit would be coming to the farm. Unknown why. They did show up. K9 unit was a compact vehicle with GCSO markings and K9 unit. In unmarked vehicle were three women in plain clothes. When complainant approached the K9 units, he got back in his vehicle and all the vehicles left before she got to them. Complainant was very upset about this and wanted to know what they were doing at the farm. Complainant will come to post after 4 p.m. today to file a report.
