Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Nov. 18-24. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 338 calls during this seven-day period.
FRAUD
Nov. 21
6:19 p.m., Auburndale Drive, Auburn. Caller needs to report identity theft. Today she discovered her debit card and credit cards were used over 10 times. Yesterday she received a text from Uber congratulating her on being their new driver as well.
NOISE PROBLEM
Nov. 20
4:47 a.m., Hart Road, Montville. Kids next door yelling and screaming. They are throwing beer bottles at each other. Complainant also believes one of them might have a warrant. Deputy responded. Males were cleaning up from a party. Possible source of noise or one of their friends recently had left and may have been the source. Male age 15 placed under arrest.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Nov. 22
5:32 a.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Corner Cafe employees arrived and it appears someone shot multiple times at the front window during the night. Outside pane of the glass has holes, but they did not pierce through the window completely.
Nov. 22
6:20 a.m., Munn Road, Newbury. Neighbors are encroaching on the property with large excavation equipment, including a bulldozer. Caller states they are also knocking over markers the land surveyors placed. Caller is requesting a deputy go and request them to stop. Caller states the other party involved is the Ramble Inn. Caller states she will be at the property in approximately one hour. She will call in to file the report when she arrives.
SUSPICIOUS
Nov. 18
7:25 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Scenic River Park there are people there with a bonfire. Deputy advised. Munson Township Boy Scout Troop having a campout. Fire is very small, three small logs, cooking fire. Permission from township to be here overnight camping. Adult supervision on scene.
Nov. 24
7:28 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Female in the middle of the road wearing a tie-dyed blue sweatshirt, jeans and slip on shoes. 45-50-year-old female, she was waiving her arms around asking the caller to help her get her car. She could hardly stand with slurred speech. Caller did not see the car but was told she was in the ditch. Female transported to jail. Car towed.
THEFT
Nov. 23
7:22 p.m., Taylor Wells Road, Claridon. Caller bought a computer from Dell. FedEx said they delivered the monitor yesterday; however, there was nothing there when his wife came home yesterday. He thinks it may have been stolen. FedEx requested a police report number to file a claim.
WEAPON OFFENSE
Nov. 24
3:28 p.m., White Road, Burton. There are people shooting guns at the corner of White and Georgia, and bullets are coming into the caller’s yard. Deputy responded. Neighbors were shooting clay pigeons in the pasture and will stop for the day. Complainant was contacted and advised.
