Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 30, 2016, to Jan. 5, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 330 calls during this seven-day period.
BURGLARY
Jan. 3
10 a.m., Ravenna Road, Chardon. Sometime between Sunday night and now. Forced entry through the side door. Report taken.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Dec. 30
2:54 p.m., Leader Lane, Hambden. In lobby to report threatening and menacing. Complainant wanted advice on his options about a family member sending unwanted text messages.
Jan. 2
10:15 a.m., Nash Road, Parkman. Complainant is in the lobby. He accidentally locked his safe and cannot remember the combination. He called the safe manufacturer and they will not release the combination to him without an incident report. Deputy advised and provided the requested documentation.
Jan. 4
9:05 a.m., Woodin Road, Hambden. Subject in the lobby to report suspicious, threatening, menacing, domestic dispute. Complainant wanted information on the eviction process pertaining to someone living in their residence. Info given along with advice on another matter.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Jan. 5
11:12 a.m., Radcliffe Road, Hambden. Dispute over payment of vehicle, titles and the scraping of the vehicle.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
Dec. 30
10:14 p.m., Thrasher Road, Troy. 911 text message. Male in Hiram is drunk and causing problems. At 8:55 p.m. he kicked a dog and threatened to kill the dog! He won’t leave no one alone and continues to harass everyone in the house. Please send a couple of deputies to deal with him. Everyone checked OK. They denied any violence or threats. Disagreement over who was to be in the kitchen. Advice given.
FRAUD
Dec. 30
5:56 p.m., Bridle Trail, Munson. Needs to report fraud and possibly identity theft. Female responded to the lobby to request a report number for a fraud investigation her bank was conducting. Deputy learned an unknown person hacked into her email account, found her bank accounts and attempted to steal her money.
Jan. 2
1:38 p.m., Highland View Drive, Munson. Need a report for bank account hacked. Deputy spoke with complainant, who advised she learned her bank account was hacked and money was missing. However, she had no paperwork at this point. She advised she was going to go to the bank tomorrow to sort things out and then call GCSO once she has the information.
SUSPICIOUS
Dec. 30
11:41 a.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Caller states he received suspicious call about his gun shop. Person calling was asking about his guns and caller felt the person was possibly casing the place via phone. Would like a deputy to call him back. Spoke with complainant by phone. He advised yesterday he had a suspicious call from a woman in Bedford asking if he sold automatic weapons for personal protection. He told female he did not and said he only sold to people with CCW permits. Female asked how to get a CCW permit and if he could train her. He told her he did not and she would have to look up how to get the training herself. He said he felt call was suspicious and is worried someone might be casing his shop. Requested extra patrol.
10:41 p.m., Brakeman Road, Hambden. Out with female walking dressed in all camo.
Jan. 2
4:08 p.m., Hobart Road, Parkman. Male is talking young females on Hobart. This has happened multiple times recently in the past few months. Male has been driving a red sedan and a red truck. He was last seen within the last half hour. UTL/GOA. Spoke with caller; no other information at this time. Vehicle drove past them twice. Nothing was said to the kids. Caller advised will call back if vehicle is seen again.
THEFT
Jan. 1
1:21 p.m., Main Market Road, Parkman. One white and one black male went through the store and took things, and went out the back door. Males left with no description on vehicle or direction.
Jan. 3
11:04 a.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Theft of two laptops from residence. Unknown when noticed it Saturday. Report taken.
