Sheriff’s Report
December 29, 2016

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 16-22. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 299 calls during this seven-day period.

CITIZEN’S ASSIST

Dec. 21

3:11 p.m., Ravenna Road, Munson. The owner of Alvord’s Yard and Garden would like to speak with a deputy regarding women from WomenSafe walking down to their business to be picked up by people. There have been females that stopped in and have made mention of their psychiatric issues, and have made statements regarding purchasing axes and knives from the store and using them as weapons. Deputy spoke with the complainant who was concerned about the clients from WomenSafe being picked up on his property and also loitering in his store. Concerned about the comments a client made to a worker about buying an axe to protect self.

EXTRA PATROL

Dec. 20

5:05 p.m., Mumford Road, Troy. There was a male and female walking down Patch Road today when the children were walking home. They approached the child and asked how many more days they had in school. The child told the parents, who called the teacher. They would like extra patrol at Patch and Mumford during the school day.

GAS LEAK

Dec. 18

8:39 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Very strong smell of natural gas outside of the structure on the east side of the structure by the wheelchair ramps. There is an AA meeting going on in there. Dominion advised.

INJURED ANIMAL

Dec. 20

4:23 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. West of Auburn, before Sperry. Car vs. Deer. Unknown if the deer is going to be OK, it is injured. Caller would like someone to check on the deer. The deer was lying behind the speed limit sign, near the red century home. No injuries to the driver; he does not see any damage to his vehicle at this time. Deputy responded. Deer was located and was deceased and off the road.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Dec. 19

11:37 p.m., Main Market Road, Troy. White male in his 20’s walked into the bar with his own beer. He was told he cannot have it in the bar. He took the beer outside of the bar, returned and then went and locked himself in the bathroom. Patron then kicked a hole in the bathroom door and returned to the bar. When the caller approached him about it, he responded, “F You.” The male has blonde hair with a grey hoodie and blue jeans, white tennis shoes.

SUSPICIOUS

Dec. 17

10:13 p.m., Sagewood Lane, Auburn. There are several cars by the gazebo that have their engines running. Caller is in charge of security and safety in the community and does not believe they belong there. He is not sure if the gazebo is on Sagewood, but it is across from the pool. Deputy responded. Checked ok, the only car in the lot belonged to a resident.

THREATENING

Dec. 17

6:33 p.m., Grandview Drive, Newbury. The caller advised an older male with dark hair tried to assault the caller’s girlfriend over a road rage incident. This occurred on route 44 and Blazin Bills. The caller got scared and drove home. The caller does not know what direction the suspect went. The caller believes the suspect had a black pistol under his seat. The suspect stated he was “above the law” and was going to teach the caller a lesson. The complainant was unable to provide a description of the vehicle in question or a plate. The driver did exchange words with the complainant but there was no assault.
