Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 20-26 , 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 320 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Jan. 24
3:49 p.m., Clay St., Montville. The neighbor’s white dog has killed multiple chickens. The Dog Warden was already contacted and she advised a police report was suggested. The family and the Dog Warden have attempted to make contact with the neighbor after the incident but they refused to answer the door.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Jan. 21
9:30 a.m., Nelson Road, Parkman. Landlord served a 3-day eviction notice. She is blocking me in the driveway. She has moved to the other driveway. She told tenant that she can go in the house whenever she wants. Deputy responded. Landlord came to the residence to serve a 3-day eviction notice. Tenants are in the process of leaving; but cannot get out within the three days. Landlord was advised to file eviction notice through the court and not to enter the rental property. Landlord stated that she will be back later today to serve the other tenant his 3-day eviction notice. Landlord will post that on the exterior door if the tenant doesn’t answer the door.
EXTRA PATROL
Jan. 25
6:46 a.m., Burlington Ridge Drive, Munson. Extra Patrol between 6:15 – 6:30 a.m. for a black Chevy car that has been circling the area of the caller’s bus stop. Male told the caller’s 14-year-old daughter he had a game on his phone for her. Deputy received a call from the Chardon bus driver. He was told that the student said a guy was driving around trying to talk to her while she was waiting for the bus. Deputy sat in the area during noted time frame. No issues. Deputy spoke with complainant who advised that the school bus driver was aware of the issue and would call if he sees the vehicle in the area in the future.
FISH & GAME
Jan. 25
3:15 p.m., Valley Road, Auburn. Caller reports two white mails in a boat on Lake LaDue. They both have shotguns. They are north of the boat ramp. Deputy spoke with the caller; certain birds are in season and they can hunt from the boat.
NOISE PROBLEM
Jan. 20
11:00 p.m., Auburn Road, Auburn. Caller states someone is playing loud music in their car and sitting in the driveway across the street. Caller states she has asked the neighbor to not do this, but is not comfortable going over there at night because she believes he drinks a lot. Deputy asked the male to turn down his music; he stated he would.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Jan. 20
6:12 p.m., Hunt Road, Huntsburg. Caller reports one house south of him, there’s a vacant home it appears someone broke into it. The doors are open and there is an unknown alarm coming from inside the house. Deputy advised. Front door was open, no sign of forced entry, front door was unlocked. Searched inside of home, unable to locate anyone, no damage to the home’s interior.
SUSPICIOUS
Jan. 24
9:35 a.m., Kevin Lane, Hambden. Caller would like a report for the cutting of her phone lines off the house. She had all new stuff put in yesterday, saw her neighbor walking around the backyard and today it is all pulled from the box. Deputy advised.
UNCONSIOUSNESS
Jan. 26
7:49 a.m., Farmington Road, Parkman. The caller found his neighbor in a shed. He was missing from work. The caller believes he is deceased. He is approximately 60 years old. He has been missing since last night. Caller did not want to attempt CPR and stated EMS personnel were on scene.
