Sheriff’s Report
March 2, 2017

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Feb. 17-23. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 348 calls during this seven-day period.

AGENCY ASSIST

Feb. 18

12:40 p.m., Edgewood Road, Munson. Received a call from Cleveland Hopkins Airport. They had an unmanned drone approximately 3,000 feet in the air, which came approximately 200 feet from an aircraft. They are asking us to check the area. Checked the area. Unable to locate.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Feb. 17

9:48 a.m., Mumford Road, Troy. Pony was in the middle of the roadway on Mumford, approximately a quarter mile south of Nash. Deputy responded. Caller drives a tow truck and almost hit the pony. The pony is now off the side of the road eating grass. Caller will stay on scene until we get there with lights on to alert other drivers.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Feb. 18

2:20 p.m., Treadway Drive, Munson. Approximately one month ago, I noticed a hole in our window. Today, we found a bullet between the two doors. Deputy responded to location and met with the complainant. Complainant advised window was damaged approximately one month ago, but just found a bullet in upstairs bedroom a few days ago. I looked at the item and it appears to be a .223 rifle round. Complainant does not know of anyone in area that shoots and does not suspect anyone. Complainant requested the incident on file at the Sheriff’s Office.

SUSPICIOUS

Feb. 20

5:01 p.m., Timber Lane, Auburn. Caller has a smart phone with a new number and she keeps getting text messages from drug dealers. Multiple messages from different numbers asking if caller would like to purchase drugs. She has the text messages saved on her phone. Would like to speak with an officer.

Feb. 21

8:24 a.m., Captains Walk, Munson. Complainant’s daughter’s boyfriend has given her grandson a gift and she is concerned that it is stolen and she is requesting a deputy check it out. It is in her car at this time. Complainant is concerned because he is into drugs. Deputy checked the item. The item was a gaming chair in its original box. There was no way to tell if it was stolen.

Feb. 22

2:09 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. Suspicious pick-up truck keeps pulling in and out of her driveway. Vehicle is parked out back by the garage. Vehicle still parked out back with the lights off. She cannot give any description nor does she see anyone. Caller’s Chevy Traverse is parked in the driveway. Vehicle is being repoed. Complainant was notified.
