Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office March 10-16, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 357 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
March 11
4:45 a.m., Beechnut Lane, Munson. Dogs barking and caller believes it’s animal cruelty to have your dog outside in the cold. Deputy advised. Three dogs checked okay. Dogs have access to warm garage through their doggie door, which was confirmed they use.
FRAUD
March 14
8:59 p.m., Falls Road, Munson. Caller states at the end of January her credit card number was stolen and a laptop was purchased at Best Buy. The laptop was delivered to her house on Jan. 30. Within a week someone dressed in FedEx clothing came to the house to pickup the package. She is now in collections with Best Buy. She feels she was scammed and would like to speak with a deputy.
LITTERING
March 13
5:41 p.m., Leggett Road, Montville. Set of four tires sitting on the south side of Leggett Road. Caller stated a house on Plank Road sold at auction on March 2. The previous owner used to sell tires. He would write the tire sizes on the tire and the tires dumped on the side of the road have the same writing. Caller believes the new owners may be possibly dumping the tires off. There was dozens of tires on the property at the time of auction. Deputy advised. Tires stacked up on the side of the road. Unable to determine where they came from or why they are there. Montville Road Department advised of the tires and will remove them.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
March 12
1:47 p.m., Cutty Sark Drive, Chardon. About two weeks ago a vehicle got stuck in caller’s yard. Not sure if the were turfing or if they were turning around. Complainant pulled them out and had them write their info down. They were supposed to come back and fix the yard, but he has not heard from them and the info seems to be false. Deputy informed of the call. Son will handle the fixing. Complainant contacted.
SUSPICIOUS
March 12
1:02 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Deputy out with two vehicles. Three teenagers meeting up to go to Wal-Mart. They were advised to not meet up in a closed business parking lot. Sent on their ways. Advised of driving curfew as well.
March 14
2:17 p.m., Madison Road, Middlefield. Sometime last night, two cars in the driveway gas caps were opened and gas tanks were emptied. Caller didn’t notice until noon today. Other two vehicles in the driveway were untouched. Extra patrol requested.
