Sheriff’s Report
November 9, 2017

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Oct. 27, 2017, to Nov. 2, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 220 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Oct. 31

5:27 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller wished to remain anonymous. Stated there is a gray minivan in the Zeppes parking lot that has three dogs in it. The windows are rolled up and they have been there for over an hour. Deputy advised. Checked entire lot and there is no vehicle matching that description. No dogs noted in any other vehicle.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Oct. 28

2:23 a.m., Chardon Road, Chardon. Four people at Maple Taps fighting, somewhat physical. Owner is outside trying to mediate the situation so it does not get out of control. Deputy arrived on scene with assistance from Chardon PD. Some patrons got into a verbal argument in which no violence occurred. The owner separated all parties until Deputies arrived. Advice was provided.

ILLEGAL BURNING

Oct. 30

1:26 p.m., Zenith Drive, Newbury. On the southwest corner, they are burning trash and it smells. Private property signs are up. No one is outside with the burn. It is behind the house in a fire pit. Fire was out when Deputies arrived. Tenant was advised that it was illegal to be burning trash and to be burning within 1,000 feet of a house.

JUVENILE PROBLEM

Oct. 27

11:14 a.m., Shedd Road, Parkman. The caller is a teaching supervisor. She stated a 16 year old student posted videos on Youtube of him drinking, handling firearms, and talking about weapons and school. He is at Auburn Career Center today. He is enrolled in the construction program. He is also in behavioral class as well. He has been diagnosed with anger issues. He also has problems with authority.

SUSPICIOUS

Oct. 27

2:48 p.m., Bridge Creek Trail, Auburn. The caller advised her 13 year old grand daughter came home from school and while she was walking into the callers house there was a male watching her get off the bus. He was in a white Jeep Cherokee. When she walked into the house the male started driving up the street. He did not approach the child nor did he say anything to the girl. There was a dog inside the vehicle also. Girl will let the bus driver know if she sees the vehicle again and not get off the bus at her stop. Extra patrol requested. Complainant will call if she sees the White Jeep in the area.

Oct. 28

11:59 p.m., Bass Lake road, Munson. Male pounding on the door and screaming he needs gas. Male walked away, screaming he needed gas, female states there is a car out on the road with flashers on. All the doors are locked, looks like a Toyota. Deputy checked male. Ran out of gas.
