Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Dec. 15-21, 2017. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 331 calls during this seven-day period.
ASSAULT
Dec. 16
1:11 a.m., Main Market Road, Troy. Seven people are fighting in the bar. No weapons. Everyone is leaving. Nobody is injured. Other bartender says it’s under control. Caller says she doesn’t know who any of the people are. They have never been there before.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Dec. 18
5:04 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Male here causing problems, screaming at everyone. He was highly intoxicated. Just left in a red pickup truck. Unknown if he was driving or someone else. He attacked another customer. Deputy spoke with manager and was told the two males in question had a verbal argument over drinks. No threats of violence. Spoke with male involved. He advised he and other male were arguing over an ex-girlfriend and male left before things got physical.
Dec. 20
7:58 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Roommate is arguing with the caller and trying to burn her clothes. No violence; no weapons. There was a disagreement about smoking in the house. Both subjects were illegals; however, one subject was in the process of obtaining citizenship. ICE-ON-Duty was called.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
Dec. 19
11:26 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. His girlfriend had a knife and was threatening them with a knife. Mother now has the knife. Female is intoxicated; There are five people at the residence. She is physically fighting with a roommate now. Report taken; female arrested.
HARASSMENT
Dec. 16
7:53 p.m., Sperry Road, Newbury. Female was involved in a domestic in Cleveland this morning. She is making a report in Cleveland, however, male keeps texting and calling her. He is threatening to come over to her house and continues to harass her. She has the voicemails and screenshots. Report to follow.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Dec. 18
1:58 a.m., Leader Road, Hambden. Two males in light blue car shooting paintballs at her car. Caller’s back window is broken out. Did not get a good look at driver, but is sure who the passenger is. One adult arrested and one juvenile.
PURSUIT
Dec. 17
4:34 a.m., Chillicothe Road, Chester. Chasing two snowmobiles.
SUSPICIOUS
Dec. 16
4:55 a.m., Kile Road, Montville. Out with a male sleeping in a truck. Male arrested for OVI.
8:27 a.m., Nicki Lane, Hambden. Neighbor has a sign in the side window that says, “Call 911 please my phone is out.” Per deputy, sign was in the window on Wednesday when they took homeowner to the hospital and they forgot to take it down. Female still at UH Geauga. Sign removed from window.
Dec. 17
2:25 p.m., Montclair Drive, Hambden. Female in cuffs at residence of off-duty Euclid officer after she tried to stun gun him when he arrived home. Female claim pizza delivery.
9:10 p.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. Caller states she was getting gas and a black vehicle with tinted windows was videotaping her and her 9-year-old daughter. Caller states an African-American male was driving and he had a top hat on. She feels very uncomfortable with the situation. She also states same vehicle was in front of her several days earlier. Would like to speak with a deputy.
Dec. 18
2:07 p.m., Bell Street, Newbury. Homeowner advised he is not home and received a text asking what are your plans today, are you home, etc. He asked who is this and they only advised you know who this is, stop playing around. Request house check and patrol. Garage may be unlocked due to delivery of packages. All others should be locked.
Dec. 21
11:09 a.m., Hayes Road, Middlefield. Caller wanted to report some suspicious activity that happened overnight. They found a bra in their 8- and 10-year-old daughters’ bedroom upstairs and a pair of socks in the hallway. They also have a bucket outside the door that they hide a key in and the bucket was moved overnight. Caller also heard a squeak in the basement.
THEFT
Dec. 18
2:42 p.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Theft of packages yesterday from porch. Amazon packages. They will refund money. Record only.
Dec. 19
9:58 p.m., Plank Road, Montville. Caller reports his roommates stole his Xbox and destroyed the bedroom. Deputy advised. Report taken.
Dec. 20
7:48 p.m., Mitchells Mill Road, Chardon. Theft of about 15 bales of hay that happened sometime today. Deputy advised. Requests extra patrol.
TRAFFIC HAZARD
Dec. 17
2:53 p.m., Merritt Road, Munson. Protestors are blocking Merritt Road. People again in the road, blocking the exit.
