Sheriff’s Report
The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 12-18, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 321 calls during this seven-day period.
ANIMAL PROBLEM
Jan. 12
4:20 p.m., Farley Road, Parkman. Two beef cows running through caller’s yard, ran toward Hosmer. Caller would like to talk to an officer about who owns the cows. Deputy advised. Unable to locate the cows. Caller requested an incident report only at this time.
CITIZEN ASSIST
Jan. 13
10:15 p.m., Leader Road, Hambden. Caller reports she was hit in the ear. There is a male in the background stating he didn’t hit her. She’s now advising he threatened her. Caller now states he punched her at a different location; he only threatened her at the residence they are at now. Female was upset over the ticket deputies gave her. Both subjects were told to go to bed for the night.
CITIZEN DISPUTE
Jan. 17
10:35 a.m., La Verne Lane, Hambden. Situation resolved for now. Dispute over money and property. Male agreed to allow female to have a third party retrieve her two snakes and her children’s clothing. Female advised to receive court order for the remaining property.
FRAUD
Jan. 16
4:09 p.m., Wayne Lane, Hambden. Caller needs to make a report for fraud. She gave out info to a company saying they were affiliated with FirstEnergy and she thinks it is a scam. Deputy advised. Unknown if company is legitimate or not. Female gave the solicitor info about her FirstEnergy account only, not any personal information. She already has notified First Energy and will notify FTC and credit reporting companies. Advice given.
HARASSMENT
Jan. 13
4:35 p.m., Walking Stick Lane, Hambden. Caller states he works at mechanics shop and he works on a female’s vehicle. Her husband believes the caller and female are having an affair. Husband has been following caller. He would like to speak with a deputy. His boss has told him he has seen him around and he has seen the male at Everybodies Gym in Chardon. No threats have been made and male has not spoken to complainant. Requests extra patrol of residence. Advised to call if he sees the male. Advice given.
INTOXICATED PERSON
Jan. 12
8:24 p.m., Susan Lane, Hambden. Caller reports her boyfriend’s uncle is intoxicated. He shoved boyfriend. Caller and her boyfriend left the residence. No weapons, no drugs. The male is upset because no one will give him dope money. Verbal only between uncle and nephew; nephew left for night.
OVERDOSE
Jan. 18
12:23 a.m., Longview Drive, Newbury. 23-year-old female drinking tonight and did opiates. Female threw up and is now awake. Female has a history of using heroin. Female is telling caller she was only drinking and denying doing any drugs; however, her pupils were constricted and Narcan changed her status. Female told deputies she would rather be in a body bag. A pink slip was completed and she was transported to the ER for an evaluation.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
Jan. 13
5:19 p.m., Waterfowl Lane, Munson. Someone took out our mailbox today, second crash on this street in five days. Caller wants report because cars are going too fast on the road.
SUSPICIOUS
Jan. 13
9:15 p.m., Kenny Drive, Hambden. Caller reports her daughter is reporting someone is asking for help. A male is going crazy. Caller reports there was blood on his forehead. Two disorderly conduct summons issued.
VANDALISM
Jan. 15
8:12 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. House was egged last night. Caller would like a report. Complainant further stated they are on the Newbury BOE and believe it stems from levy and funding issues going on. Complainant can’t prove who did the egging, but wanted it on file.
8:17 a.m., Pekin Road, Newbury. House and windows egged. Caller advised she is a Newbury BOE member. She said every time a particular group gets “fired up,” they go and do stuff. Deputy advised of call. Complainant believes it is upset parents/kids over levy and funding. Complainant further stated she would like the incident on file at this time.
8:25 a.m., Sperry Road, Newbury. House egged last night. At 10:58 p.m. a small SUV with 3-4 people stopped in front of the residence and launched eggs at it from street. No damage was done.
