Sheriff’s Report
February 15, 2018

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office Feb. 2-8, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 398 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL PROBLEM

Feb. 8

8:27 a.m., Nash Road, Parkman. 30 horses in roadway. ODOT advised horses are contained. Horses contained by owner.

ASSAULT

Feb. 3

6:36 p.m., Ledge Road, Thompson. Male was in an altercation with brother-in-law. He is gone now. Unknown drugs or alcohol, but caller thinks none today. They got into a fistfight over car repairs. Report taken.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

Feb. 8

5:02 p.m., Erwin Drive, Burton. Caller needs to make a report for a neighbor dispute. Neighbor is snow blowing his yard to intentionally put snow in the caller’s yard. Spoke with complainant who stated he asked approximately one month ago he asked neighbor not to blow the snow over his fence onto his property, and today neighbor did it again. Deputy met with neighbor’s wife who said she know why deputy was trying to meet with him. She said yes, it’s because of snow blowing and some of snow landed onto caller’s property. Wife stated she would tell her husband not to snow blow near property again. Caller said he is also going to put video cameras on his property and maybe even go to court and attempt to obtain a protection order in the future.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE

Feb. 3

5:45 p.m., Kinsman Road, Burton. Female called direct into Burton FD and wanted to know if there was a law having her husband leave the house for the night due to a domestic dispute. She stated no violence has occurred. Refused to give her name or address; only had a phone number. Was able to locate her through Facebook.

FRAUD

Feb. 7

3:27 p.m., Tracy Lane, Troy. Caller needs to make report for fraud from SafeLink. Caller would like it documented an unknown person called him from SafeLink and requesting a copy of his Social Security card, credit card and driver’s license to be sent to a suspicious PO box in Milwaukee. Caller did not send any of this information and is not out any money. Advice given.

Feb. 8

3:20 p.m., Wilson Mills Road, Munson. Deputy met with complainant in lobby of GCSO. Stated his ex-girlfriend had possibly opened up a payroll advance account in his name and took out a $550 cash advance. Stated he never opened such account or made a cash advance. Currently he does not have any paperwork proving this account has been opened. Stated he will return with more information and a written statement at a later time. Once information received deputy will complete a report.

SUSPICIOUS

Feb. 6

5:58 a.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Male in the building, tall white male, thin with beard and a camo backpack was putting on a mask and a black hoodie. Appeared to be on foot. Caller believes he looked suspicious and would like someone to check. Male located on Bean. Checked OK, denied any assistance.

THEFT

Feb. 6

7:12 p.m., Turner Drive, Aquilla. Caller reports someone stole a portable phone charger from his residence. He used the charger last night. Cancelled by caller; property was recovered. Property found.

THREATENING

Feb. 3

7:34 p.m., Knotty Pine Lane, Hambden. Caller states neighbors’ kid left a note for his children saying they were going to kill them. Report taken.

Feb. 7

1:20 p.m., Washington Street, Auburn. In lobby over phone, threatening/harassment. Complainant advised unknown male on Facebook sent her harassing and threatening messages on Facebook Messenger. Mutual conversation was observed. Male was blocked on Facebook without further incident. Advice given.
