Sheriff’s Report
April 26, 2018

The following is a sampling of the calls handled by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office April 13-19, 2018. In total, the sheriff’s office handled 330 calls during this seven-day period.

ANIMAL ABUSE

April 14

1:43 p.m., Pioneer Road, Huntsburg. Across from the address, Amish have a horse tied to a basketball hoop pole and are hitting it in the head with the basketball. Deputy responded. Horse is OK. Basketball being played where horse was being given a bath. Basketballs made incidental contact with horse.

CITIZEN ASSIST

April 13

9:42 a.m., Kinsman Road, Newbury. An employee at this location is dating a male that has been assaulting her. The caller knows he cannot file a report for her, but would like officers to be aware he is not to be on the company property. Advice given concerning a domestic situation between boyfriend and girlfriend. Business will send male a notice that he is not welcome on the property where the girlfriend works.

CITIZEN DISPUTE

April 15

2:09 p.m., Hobart Road, Parkman. Neighbor dumped horse manure on our property. Ongoing dispute. Deputy was just here last week. Deputy advised. Spoke with caller. He showed me his complaint alongside the edge of the road. All indications are it was a result of flooding from heavy rain. Party advised.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

April 19

8:54 a.m., GAR Highway, Hambden. Start I.R. for community education at Jut 4 Kids. Educational demonstration with K9. Also spoke to pre-school kids about bullying, gun safety and drugs, per the request of their teachers.

12:47 p.m., Georgia Road, Middlefield. K9 demo/education for Amish school. D.A.R.E. program.

EXTRA PATROL

April 17

12:01 p.m., Valley Road, Auburn. Extra patrol requested on Valley Road around LaDue over the weekends. Bird watchers are being harassed by passing speeding motorists while they are parked and walking along the roads. Caller is asking for extra patrol in the area, during daylight hours for sure.

FOUND PROPERTY

April 18

9:16 a.m., Bass Lake Road, Munson. Found safe.

FRAUD

April 17

5:38 p.m., Goredon Drive, Aquilla. Lobby call fraud. Spoke with complainant who advised he was contacted by someone claiming to be from the Department of Treasury. His caller ID said call was coming from New York. Complainant said subject could hardly speak English, so he hung up on him. Complainant just wanted incident documented.

HARASSMENT

April 19

3:29 p.m., Princeton Road, Huntsburg. Caller and her husband have both received text messages from an unknown number saying they are looking for a sex partner. Caller told to block number.

LITTERING

April 13

8:49 a.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Someone has been dumping items in the dumpster. Hot tub and miscellaneous decking was dumped in complainant’s dumpster sometime during the overnight hours between 5:30 p.m. and 7 a.m. Extra patrol requested at business during the evening hours.

SUSPICIOUS  

April 13

5:47 p.m., Thompson Road, Thompson. White powder found in small baggy in parking lot of Dollar General. Deputy advised. Suspected narcotics found in the parking lot. Unknown who dropped them or how long they’ve been there. The items will be entered into evidence for destruction purposes.

9:54 p.m., Clay Street, Montville. Several juveniles in the parking lot at Observatory Park, approximately 10. Caller thinks they are smoking something. Deputy responded. Several young persons at the park, but no drugs suspected. They advised they were there was a learning lesson about the stars and a person was on scene who was giving the class. All check OK and are slowly clearing out.

THEFT

April 18

9:11 p.m., Mayfield Road, Claridon. Smith and Wesson MP9 was stolen by male who currently is a heroin addict. Gun went missing shortly after male visited at his mother/brother’s home today. Cleveland PD contacted to check Marathon off of 185th for male. Report taken. Weapon will be entered as stolen.

THREATENING

April 17

10:36 p.m., Mayfield Road, Munson. Subject was robbed by gunpoint by four males driving a Gold Buick. Incident occurred 20-25 minutes ago. Males stole $60. Nature change from robbery to threatening. Report taken.

WELFARE CHECK

April 13

8:49 p.m., Burrows Road, Montville. Caller requesting welfare check. Female came into work today with a fat lip and told caller her boyfriend hit her. Deputy checked on female who stated the bruise on her chin/lip was from her horse that kicked her yesterday. Boyfriend, who also was on scene, stated she received her injury from her horse. Both parties advised they live separately. Female requested no further assistance and stated she would call if she needed assistance.

April 14

1:56 a.m., Washington Street, Auburn. Caller is in Euclid and received a call from her boyfriend who left drug treatment and caller her high. He said, “I’m not doing OK.” She hung up after a minute without response and call GCSO. Caller believes he overdosed on heroin. Deputies arrived on scene and located male inside a bedroom, unconscious but breathing. Auburn Fire personnel arrived on scene and administered Narcan to male and transported him to UH Geauga ER.
